Is this car a good buy?

I bought the MG3 SE not the Trophy.Didn't think it was worth the extra £2000.
I did the same, because for me, apart from the Led headlights, and perhaps the blind spot monitoring, there was nothing that I felt I really needed, that would justify the extra 2000. The heated seats and steering wheel and even the 360 camera I just didn't need.

My thoughts exactly DeclanB

I am very happy with our mg3. Our kids have left home so 90% of the time it's just wife and I so it is plenty big enough for us. Currently mpg good 50 plus, handling is Great around town and I am not sure how I would manage without the 360 camera!.

If you compare the technology you get for the price you be surprised comparing with other makes in this price range they are always the entry trim when you spec to the same as the mg3 trophy they jump by thousands. 7 year warranty can't be ignored.

My only suggestion that you test drive one and see if you can tick off your disability requirements. If you work in the UK public sector ask for Infinity

Thanks very much for your reply, as I said last my new Neighbour has one and I got to have a chat with him this week, he does like the car but he warned me to be careful with the warranty and to read it thoroughly to see what is covered. His infotainment screen went faulty and originally they said it wasn't covered under the warranty but after allot of discussions they eventually repaired it F.O.C.

Hi guys (and dolls) been trying to look at the trophy hybrid plus but local dealer says none in until end of month. Been looking on Auto Trader and you tube and it looks a good car. We have at the moment a Citroen c3 Aircross which has been a good car purchased from new we needed a slightly larger car (from c3) for disability issues and the mg dimensions look roughly the same. Anyway (Sorry to ramble) could any Trophy hybrid plus owners recommend this car? Or are has it got bad reputation. Many thanks.
Hello, I've owned a new MG3+Hybrid Trophy since June 2024 and very pleased with it too. Over my many years of motoring and many cars, old and new, nothing is as 'quirky' as this car. Great car and great fun to drive but far too much technology for me. I've been told that this is the future? I have now learned to live with the many strange habits of this vehicle. The actual car itself; fuel consumption since new and 3000 miles later, 64.8 mpg. Driving it very carefully one would probably get even more mpg. It is quite quick using the electric motor only. Give it a good 'boot' and (eventually) the petrol engine wakes up and the full 192bhp comes into play. Can be a tad noisy when burning off Boy Racers in BMW's!! But seriously, this car took me a while to get used to the technology but now; I love it. No problems at all so far. I would certainly recommend it. If and I hope that it doesn't go wrong, but if it does, another review will be on way.

Hello, I was the owner of a citroen c3 airplay, bought new many years ago and run until it's done, i bought my mg3 hybrid in July (like pp wasn't interested in paying £2000 for extras i don'tneed) i''m very happy with the mg, it's nippy and maneuverable, my teenagers like it, plenty of room for them. The boot isn't as deep because of the battery so I can't use it like the spare storage area I did with the c3, that's my only down.

Hi Everyone, I've got the MG MG3 HYBRID PLUS and I have to say I'm really happy with it. Yes it's a "cheap car" but what it has to offer for your cash is amazing. The 360 camera set up makes parking a breeze and maybe it's because I'm oldish I really like the heated seats and steering wheel, helps with these old bones LOL It takes a bit of time to get used to all the bells and whistles but once you've got used to it all it's a pleasure to drive. Nice and comfortable and decent MPG. I'm old school really and remember the MG of the past, little pocket rockets and I'm happy to say that it looks like MG have listened to their customers and scrapped the old MG3 and produce a little gem now with 190 bhp yummy?. I've driven really posh fast cars and wrecks in my time so think I'm qualified to say well done MG you've hit the nail on the head with this model. OK it has some scratchy surfaces but where it matters they have added cushioned surfaces on the armrests and you're not going to sleep on the scratchy surfaces and it is a cheap car so live with it. It was by chance that I choose it. I did have a Seat ibiza which is a good car but once I'd driven the MG3 there was no contest. This is where I give a shout out to A.J who works at WLMG in Eastcote, West London. A.J is polite. Not pushy and answered all our questions and it's thanks to him I ended up choosing the MG3 HYBRID PLUS. I normally shy away from autos but the MG3 has changed my mind, it's a lovely car with a fair bit of grunt to get you out of trouble or onto the motorway with ease so if you're thinking of getting one. Take one for a test drive. I think you'll be surprised by what you find. I was.

Thank you, as I have said in some of my replies we are waiting for our dealer to receive stock then we will have a test drive. We need an SUV as we are on the plump side and have always gone for comfort over economy, I must say the new MG HS plug in hybrid looks tempting with figures of 75 miles on a full charge and 675mpg. Will test drive both models.

Thank you BJS for your complimentary comments, which are very much in line with my own feelings.
Everyone who has tried it has been pleasantly surprised by the mg3.
Of course, you have to accept the constraints of modern cars with driving aids.
But the equipment is very, very comprehensive and far exceeds the competition.

The new MG HS Hybrid+ is based on the MG3, and once again you should be delighted with this SUV.

I said in my reply it was a plug in hybrid. Plus I already have a charger from when I had my nissan leaf should I choose the hs. But as you guys know it will be the mrs who decides, she's been watching too much BIG BROTHER!!!

China became the leading passenger car manufacturer. I searched online and found that the country produces 34% of the 69 million cars that are manufactured worldwide each year.

In the MailOnline 20/10/22 the MG3 Hybrid rated 5th out of their top 10 Cheapest New cars to buy and own for 3 years. It is also predicted to lose only 42% of its value over that period. Only beaten by the Toyota Aygo X, Kia Picanto, and Hyundai i10 with the Dacia Sandero on top!

Thanks for that information, I was hoping my next new car to have a power tailgate but I have to ask myself is it worth the extra £2000 just for that plus all the other niceties. But I have always said the more extras tis extra things to go wrong.

I got a phonecall from my local dealer Monday to tell me new stock had arrived. So arranged a test drive for Tuesday. I was pleasantly surprised and my wife was impressed so we ordered the trophy and was driving it away on wednesday. Because it was my birthday I talked them into giving me a full tank of petrol, done 70 miles up to now and I can't believe petrol gage has not moved, the acceleration from a stand still bloody hell, thats only on normal. There is a hell of a lot to learn about the car like setting things up but so far I'm impressed.
