When I bought my nearly 2 year old ZS Trophy LR I was told it had been serviced and I could connect my phone to it.

I soon found out that nether were the case.
No ismart software and no service.
A few phone calls to the dealership I bought it from and a few emails from MG and found out it was serviced, just not updated on the MG system and the dealership offered to pay for the software upgrade at my local dealer.
Car was booked in for last Friday and when I picked it up everything was updated and no charge to my self.

So after an initial problem with the car it seems to be upto date now and either MG, the seller or my local dealership has paid for the software update ?

Regards
Rob

I don’t understand about the ‘no iSMART software’ - did you just mean that your car was still bound to someone else’s account?

I’m guessing so, and it seems to be a fairly common issue that a previous owner omits to unbind the car from their account when selling.

Fortunately, there is now an ‘unbind’ option on the iSMART app, which allows this after (I believe) 72 hours, if there is no response from the previous owner.

Hello.

No not bound to someone else, I checked with MG direct.
The car had an older version of software and ismart was not an option.
The dealership updated a new version of the software which now has ismart.
It even updated my sat nav ?

Fair enough, I mean, gen 2s always had iSmart support, so not sure what they are on about ?

some of the ZS EV Facelifts didnt originally have ismart support in the UK and some of them did, as I think it was originally the Trophy Connect that was going to have all features

Is that true? I have a Trophy and it has always had it...

Yes it was still on sale even after they opened up features to all models, they always had ismart to a degree apart from the very very first cars, however they had limited features available

As if it actually cost them anything to plug in and update software.

We got one of the first facelift models due to selecting white. We got the Trophy, didn't see the point for spending the extra £500 for the connect. We had ismart from day one, maybe it was just the ones without the sunroof that did not get ismart.

Same here. My Trophy was built in the first 6 months of availability and it had full iSmart functionality from day 1.

We got the connect the Amazon app does not work anymore. The Ismart app is ok . Just get logged out all the time saying token expired.

Think everyone has the same problem. Got in touch with there support. They ask for my car vin number . User name and password.

As if I am going to do that .

I bought a '73 reg ex-demo a few weeks ago and the UX looks like it was designed by a computer science intern who has never had to drive a car while trying to set anything like heating or- god forbid - try to select a favourite radio station. So to select a favourite you have to hit the large radio section in the middle, fine. Then you have to somehow hit the tiny favourites icon that's about 5mm square, somewhere near the left, next to another tiny near-identical icon. Then you're faced with a screen of identical dark grey icons with 'large' text (~2mm high) showing the multiplex name (why?) and tiny, tiny text (~0.5mm high) showing the station name. Then the touch sensitivity is rubbish - half the time you hit it and it didn't respond, the other half you hit it and it takes at least half a second to respond by which time you've tried again. All this while trying to drive and look down at the screen (again, why is if down there, why not higher so you can at least see the road at the same time). Honestly I've never seen a UI this bad for ages, it irritates me so much it makes me want to sell the car on. I'm taking it back to the dealer this week for a range of minor niggles for warranty fix (squeaky brakes, steering knock, USB-Cs not working ++) so I've asked them for the latest software update. I don't suppose any of it have been redesigned though.

TLDR, but I agree with what you are saying ?
