iSmart app AU/NZ v2 released

The iSmart app version 2.0.0 has been released (on Android at least) for Australia and New Zealand. Like the UK app, it's gone from a dark look to very white - the only option in Settings. Currently looking around to find where everything has gone!

Same for iOS although I had to go to the app page to see the update option, it wasn't scheduled yet by the app store.

I like the look of the app, it also allows you to replace the pincode with Face ID which is nice. Not a great fan of the white theme, hopefully a black theme will be added. Also a bit lame the car on display is not actually an MG4...

In the UK our v1 was dark, v2 was white, and the latest update (v2.0.5) adds back a dark theme (MG 100 years). I presume your version will follow suit at some point.

Does the "keyless start" function work for anyone? It tends to just say I need to connect the BT key but it never works or does anything. Is this a function used for other MGs maybe?

The Keyless Start (part of the Digital Key) works OK for me, even though my model (SE SR) doesn't have this feature listed in the specification.

The lock / unlock on the main page uses the sim always I think, but the lock / unlock / keyless start down in the Digital key page only work via Bluetooth. Do all the other functions on the Digital key page work ? (Connect, disconnect, enable, disable, lock and unlock).

They appear to work yes, I’ll have to keep playing with it now I know it works for others, cheers!

I upgraded my app last night. Seems to work OK, updates faster than I recall the old one did.

My Home Assistant is using the legacy SAIC integration so it means I can have both the MG app and Home Assistant operating at same time. Previously you could only have one logged in at a time.

I sent a note asking if the model and colour of the car shown can be changed.

I've not tested keyless start. Not sure I'd ever want to use it.

Location is correct.

I just had a very quick play and it seemed to work after a couple of attempts - it's a while since I tested it and have forgotten the exact sequence of operations I used before. The main message I got in the car was smart key not detected, but I also had it tell me to get up and then sit in the seat again. Also the Bluetooth icon was initially blue, but then later off, even though I could use it to start the car. So that status is not of much help.

I would try the following:
Turn off wifi and mobile data so you know they're not interfering (Also useful to prove that it should still work when you're in the back of beyond), and put the keys well out of range or in a pouch.
Make sure it is 'connected' on the Digital key page, and keyless start enabled.
Unlock the car with the phone via the Digital key page
Press keyless start on the Digital key page
Sit in the seat
Press the brake

If that doesn't work try the keyless start before unlocking or after sitting in the seat.
Also try the keyless start on the main page at various stages.

One thing I'm really excited about with iSmart V2 is that MG have actioned my request to increase the length of a day from 24 hours to 31 hours and 2 minutes. I'll finally be able to get so much more done in a day.

iSMART app updated itself overnight and now nothing works
Now battery level, no range etc.
It’s scans the car but nothing shows up!

Yeah it worked for me, had to hop on the seat and play with the brake a bit. It's not exactly a flawless system, but I guess it might safe someone in a pinch once or twice. It's a nice addition.

Now I'm just envious of other's apps showing an actual MG4, I just see this thing;

I cleared the cache earlier today, I'll be patient and won't bother re-pairing the car for a few weeks. At least the app works

Just FYI for people looking at the same thing here, my ghost image went away when I refreshed the app while my VPN was turned off. Might not be related, but seemed like too much of a coincidence to not mention here
