iSMART won't connect

Lucky you guys. I accepted terms and policy stuff... App doesnt bind. Says its not supported.

Dealership doesnt answer about this.

Its a shame. I wish i could monitor my car via my phone (especially when charging

This is a bit hazy, but I think both the car and phone need an internet connection for it to work.

So the car SIM needs an Ecuadorian ISP, if SAIC hasn't set that up, it's not going to work.

I've no idea how you would find that out.
Some models do make the internet available, if yours does that you can easily test if it's working.

The only way I know if my car has internet, is because the app works.
 
I don't see ANY option for wifi or sim...

It only shows Bluetooth as connectivity option.

Guess that means it is unavailable?
 
No my model doesn't show it either, but it's there in the background.
If you have access to it, I think it's called hotspot.

If you don't have anything like hotspot in your menu, I don't know any way of checking if you have an internet connection or not.
Somebody else may, or your dealer perhaps

Ive checked every corner of the infotainment and didnt see anything related to wifi/hotspot/internet...

Maybe they forgot to update and thats why its not there?

They say its the "comfort" model with 64 kW... But its basic. No spoiler, fog lights or long tail light. Rim 17.

Software says this:

And ive heard people here say "im in R21"

Comfort = SE Long Range in the UK. i.e. SE (basic) specification but 64 kWh NMC battery pack. So no WiFi hotspot.

No your model doesn't have a hotspot, so unfortunately you can't tell if it's connected to the internet.

But it should still have internet capability if it's got a working sim card.
As far as I know only MG van tell you if it's connected

Guess im at the mercy of the house.

They keep saying "we sent email and let you know" and im waiting. Until then i was investigating my car...

I'll update any findings when they reply.

Is there a way to decode the VIN or RVAM codes for these MG?
 
For those trawling to find solution.

I bought MG ZS Dec 22, app worked for 4 months. Had a box replaced due to e-call error. That was July 23 and it broke the app. Also e-call took 6 months and multiple new boxes to be fixed.

Roll on to 4 days ago finally after about 4 telematics boxes and 1.5years I now can remote control my car again.

Pressure your dealer and don’t give up. that’s my best advice.

Also Bluetooth module isn’t working now so can’t use digital key….. do I go through the hassle again? Still debating.
 
I had same issue for 1st couple of days and could find nothing to help anywhere, and it was as simple as accepting the terms and conditions for ismart within the car main screen (think its the icon below the car binding icon from memory) ticked them both to accept then tried the app and connected straight away and every time since. It doesn't guide you to these as part of setup its a separate section altogether.

Have had new car for 5 weeks and couldn't find reason for ISmart not connecting.

Simple as accepting terms and conditions.....who knew :)

Any tips on getting the app to work on a 2024 plate MG ZS EV? I’ve checked and there’s is no options to accept terms and conditions anywhere in the settings, have tried multiple times and nothing
 
I'm this close to selling the car. I live in Sweden and the remote heating is so important to me. Tested everything in this thread but with no success. What phone are yall using? Android or Apple?

Apple, Iphone 15 Plus on iOs 18.1.1

Earlier this week the car wouldn't respond to a request to turn on the AC, not sure why, but it was 41 degrees C inside, so a bit of a bummer. Other than that I haven't really had issues with the app.
