I have sent this post to the MG HS thread. But no reply. So, I thought of sending the same post to this thread, hoping someone can give some advice.

---------------------

Hi there everyone. My name is Yean. I am new here. It is great to find that there is a community of MG car users sharing their know-hows and experiences. I am a new MG HS user, living in Rome, Italy. I bought a car a month ago. Here in Italy, it is called MG HS Luxury, which I believe is the equivalent of MG HS Trophy in the UK. It runs on petrol, not a hybrid, and it is automatic.

I am generally very pleased with the car. But there several issues, for which I need some advice.

First issue:
It relates to my driving experience, especially with the gearbox transmission. In general, the switching of gear runs smoothly, even though you can notice the switching from gear to gear. But sometimes, I notice some very harsh frictions in gear switching, especially from the the first to the second gear, whereby it prolongs too much before deciding to change to the second gear. I can even hear the sound and feel the friction.

As I was looking around in the net for answers, I found this forum, and I also found one and only one youtube video, which explains how to enter into the engineering mode (see: ). This is fantastic, as I was reading all the hype and advantages of AMT mode, but the shortfall is that most of them were talking about MG HS PHEV or EV and all of them, except this one, were about an older MG infortainment system.

I will be checking this out later today and see if there is anything I can do about it.
However, I would like to know if anyone has any insight on this.

And of course, driving the car in the centre of Rome, which is where I live, means that the car consumes huge amounts of petrol, 19 litres per 100 km! Mainly because my parking lot is underground and I have to drive uphill for two floors to get out on the even ground. But I manage to reach 8L/100km when I drive outside the centre of Rome, for example going to the airport on the motorway.

So, I hope the AMT (if it is not already the default in my case), would give me a better kilometer per hour.

Second question:
I have experienced a problem when driving uphill on a straight road, i.e. despite pressing the accelerator pedal, the car does not deliver the necessary power to tackle the climb. Am I doing something wrong? Should I release the pedal again and then press it all the way in?

Third question:
I notice the D/S label on driving mode. Now, the system doesn't seem to have a sport mode. so, what does D/S mean? Is the anyway do engage sport mode?

Fourth question:
The navigation system is rather old (2021 or even 2019, can't remember exactly at the moment). I found a pdf file from the site MG Motor EU, with a link that allows me to download 21.3GB of map data update, which I have done. Amongst the many files, the are notes saying that it is the 2024 version of update. Nice!

I have already prepared the pendrive with the update inside.

However, I must say that in the pdf file, the title says:
MAP DATAUPDATEFORZS EV LUXURY EDITION&MG4 LUXURY EDITION

So, technically it is not for MG HS Trophy. My question is whether it would be compatible for my car. I really would like to update the navigator, but I don't want to mess things up. I am hoping that the map data are generic ones for all MG models.

Anyone know anything about this? Below is the address where to download the pdf file, and the link to download the data.

PDF: https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/manuals/MAP-Data-Update-for-EZS-MCE-LUX-and-MG4-LUX2-15.26.44.pdf

Map data update: https://www.mgmotor.eu/downloads/maps.zip

That's all of questions at the moment.
Sorry for being too lengthy.
Happy MG'ing for everyone!

Hi,

Unfortunately, since these are the forums for owners of MG Electric or Hybrid Vehicles I suspect no-one here can really answer your questions, sorry.

Is there a users forum for MG non-electric vehicles in Italy? In the UK there are groups like this one. Maybe you could try asking your questions there?

Well... unfortunately, no. cannot find any MG community in Italy except an FB account, which is not very helpful

Yesterday, I have changed the configuration of my MH HS Luxury (so named in Italy, would be Trophy in the UK or elsewhere), automatic, petrol with the following settings:

Gearbox type: AMT
Driving mode: Mode 1
Emissions: EU-V

I confirm that the gear transmission is so much better and it feels much more powerful.

Can't say anything about fuel consumption just yet. It suffices to say that, for the very short distance I drive from home to work from time to time (I usually walk), before the switch it always indicated 19.9l/100km, yesterday it was 14.9l/100km.
