I retrofitted my BMW i3 with LEDs for high beam. Passed two MOTs with them, they didn’t seem to be concerned as long as they were correctly levelled.

Just because it passes the MOT does not mean it is road legal. The testers won't necessarily notice.

Were you to be in an accident where you were accused of dazzling another driver, you could be in trouble. Also, if not declared to your insurance your policy could be invalid.

Not shooting the messenger. Declared to my insurance and declared to the MOT tester On both occasions.

Makes no difference now as I’ve sold the car. No regrets though and it’s something I would do again if I had car with high beam as poor as the i3, truly dreadful, candles would be better.

Whoever designed that door combination for getting in and out of the back whilst in a parking space should be shot. It’s beyond ridiculous

I don’t think it’s illegal here to have aftermarket led’s on any exterior lights, and if it is, it isn’t enforced. I’ve seen many big racers with blue or purple led tints to their headlights.

Personally the indicators and license plate bulbs will be the only ones I’d change, and have done on previous cars. The Leon I have now has no incandescent bulbs anywhere and imo changing an indicator to an led isn’t a major change what would cause issues for other road users, not like fitting xenon’s and not aligning them properly!
