I have just placed my order for a dynamic red ZS EV exclusive after a good test drive. Ordered it from Chorley MG, so it should be available next week, can hardly wait.
Got a really good deal with a couple of "extras" thrown in. Covid measures were very good and the whole experience was good also. Any tips and hints would be gratefully received. anyone recommend a local (north west) home charger installation company?

I will continue to scan this forum.
Thanks in advance

Hi Eckmash,

We own two electric vehicles, one Mercedes A Class Hybrid 250e and a wonderful new MG ZS EV Exclusive in the same tri-colour Red as yours.

Our ROLEC Charging Point was installed through a Government Grant OLEV Saving Scheme by a Company called AMPEV who are based in Southport.

I am a qualified electrician and couldn't even buy the box from my wholesaler cheaper than what they installed it under the grant scheme, although I did require extra amour cabling due to the distance from the consumer unit to where the charger needed to go, so I installed that myself and they came along and terminated at both sides.

My house was built in 1924, so was wired with a TNS Electrical supply with a main fuse rated at 60amp.

AmpEV told me this must be increased to at least an 80amp rating, which after speaking with the area electricity supplier, this was done free of charge as the records showed the underground cabling was sufficient enough to handle a supply up to 80amps.

Most modern houses have a supply feed now up to 100amps so that may not be a problem if you live in a newer home than mine.

Here are the details for AMPEV and the available Grant Scheme:

By the way, I have just checked the latest OLEV Government site as this was updated on the 4th December 2020 and the good news is that the MG ZS EV is now included on that list.

You can view the Government Grant EV Charger Information Site here:

By the way, AMPEV did all the paperwork and applied for the grant on my behalf, just left everything to them.

Hope this helps.

Had mine since March and love it too. Would suggest having your rear windows tinted as the car will look better, enjoy.

Great minds think alike Mark.

That's a good tight fit :)
Yes it is, that's my neighbours drive.

The problem we have having two cars is having to share the charging point and drive with the second car which is a plug-in Hybrid.

My 10 meter charging lead comes in handy to pop over the wall to charge the MG when I can't get it on the drive, so up to now it hasn't been a problem.

Sadly, my neighbour for over 30 years who was an elderly lady, had to go into hospital some months back and contracted COVID while in there and passed away.

The house has finally been sold this last week, so looks like I am back to taking it in turns to park on the road in front of the house and share the drive with the Merc. when it comes to charging our vehicles.

From first delivery in September, I coated it in this Ceramic Polish. Water just runs off and the good thing is it lasts for 6 to 12 months.

As a top up, I wash and polish up using Auto Glym "Extra Gloss Protection".

Gives a lovely finish and protects the paint work, providing I park well away from everyone else in Morrisons Car Park ???
