If I could get MG to change things, I would ask them to do this:
1. Add all driver assistance systems that one can not permanently turn off to the custom setting.
This should be legal cause the car revert to Normal setting each time it's started upp.
The point is to get all your preferred custom settings by just pushing 2 buttons.

2. Give the driver a choice (extra button in screen) to set the ACC to not slow down in curves or do slow down in curves.

These two will remove 90% of problems for the customers.

I have had my MG4 EV for approximately 4 weeks (2,000 miles and counting!) and my lane assist is most definitely trying to kill me!

Leaving it in emergency lane assist is asking for an accident, the car reacts so violently that you can quite easily end up in a different lane, or off the road entirely.

The lane keep assist is not much better, the sensitivity of the movement the car makes is not as violent, but it has been known to start to wander into a different lane.

In my meagre opinion MG need to recall and programme (or send an update) to tone down the sharpness of the emergency lane assist!!

I find it the same on mine, I have to turn it off every time I get in the car otherwise I wouldn't be able to relax driving

No they told me that information after I contacted them. Apparently they are well aware of MG M4's garbage killer LKA. They said MG told them there was a software update for this. Some people on this forum have even reported the LKA to behave well after getting their car updated, but no one I ask can provide me any information on what this update is called so I can request it at my dealer.

We have had some issues with our MG4 Trophy since we received it last March, the dealership replaced some computer components back in October and that helped a lot, but we still had some issues. (One of the irritating ones is the speed detection - which is still an on/off thing.) The week before...

It was also mentioned on a UK podcast that MG UK requested a visit from MG China so they could try out the car on UK country roads to see how terrible the LKA is, so they could go back and fix it. So they are working on it, or done working on it. Who knows? I don't know if there are any avaliable updates for it.

The latest updates to my SE SR fix the ACC slowing down in bends bollocks ... needs to be a much greater turn of the steering wheel now before any slowing down happens.

If its any help I have a facelift MG5 as a company car and before that a Pre-Facelift 5. I also have a HS on loan whilst the stupid tyre pressure sensors are fixed and all three cars have pretty good LKA even on country lanes.

Assuming the same person programmed the new MG4 software ;P

You don't have to cover up the camera. Towing mode will disable Front collision and LKA, and also the annoying reverse beeping. It will also remember it as long as you let the screens start up before driving

Remember that the right screen have to start up before hitting the break pedal for lka to be disabled

Not enough. It should be on the wheel shortcut button, like the ioniq.

I think @siteguru said you still have to hit a "confirm that you really, really want to do this" dialogue box though, so what use is it? And we shouldn't be having to touch the screen to do something vital while the car is trying to steer us into the ditch.

Exactly. But one touch solution that doesn't involve touching the infotainment screen at all.

I'm very reluctant to touch the screen when I'm driving. If I do I make sure the traffic conditions are stable without any hazards about, and pick my time. The idea that you have to lunge at a touch-screen away out to the side in a moving car to stop it doing something dangerous is frankly scary. Even if it was only one touch!

To be honest, it is not a proper solution because it demands taking your attention away from the road ahead of you. So we now can take away something that may be dangerous by doing something dangerous. Elon will not agree but we all know it is potentially dangerous.

But even worse is the fact that MG lost an opportunity to go for the best solution. One that fits the majority of the criticism: get rid of the defaulted, persitent lka mode called emergency lane keeping if you wish so.
It is quite easy frankly. Offer a toggle of the three lka modes using a combination of the press of the right favorite button and a long press of the right joystick. Then you can go left or right to chose the lka mode. Like the regen mode is displayed in front of you, now you will see a reference to the lka mode 1,2,3. Another press of the favorite button brings back the orignally chosen option.
This way you have to more than single click (NCAP demand) but still safely keep your eyes on the road.
Of course, defaulting to the last chosen lka option would be the most pleasant one. But MG will then fail to comply with the NCAP demands, possibly leading to the loss of the fifth star. Until NCAP says Mea Culpa, don't count on it.

My dealer told me that that had hundreds of LKA complaints, that's honestly quite amazing. I think MG will lose more buyers because of the LKA than buyers they gain because of the star rating.

Yes, next time I'll be looking for a car without LKA. Preferably no sensors at all, but that might be difficult these days. And no NCAP safety rating of corse. Just to avoid this default bullshit. But so far I can live with the towing mode option.
