I have my Tesla MYP insured with Churchill. I wasn't expecting any trouble adding the X Power to the policy but they refused to even quote for it.

I checked out SAGA since I'm sprouting grey hairs - they wanted over £1600 - guess that was a "don't bother us with this nonsense" quote.

Eventually discovered that I could insure both cars with Admiral with the XPower being just over £700 - that's a bit more reasonable!

I dunno why it's so high. The Tesla was over a thousand squiddies. I haven't had an accident or any sort of claim for well over 20 years.

Looks like we have to pay to cover for other people's carelessness. Hardly a day goes by when I don't see a new sign knocked down somewhere in MK. People lose control on the approach to roundabouts and slam into the chevron signs - idjuts!

Oooo

Top Trumps Insurance Quotes.

Winner. £376.

Fully Comp, PNCB, Legal Cover.

As you ALL already know, many factors contribute to the price you are quoted.

I've had to pay through the nose in the past due to my location, but I'm clawing funds back that I've paid out due to living here.*

(Oh, and not wrapping my car round a lamp post or through a hedge must be helping)

Long may it continue. 👍

*West Wales

Your postcode and job description have the biggest effect on insurance. If a car is stolen in West Wales there are no motorways to get it out of the area quickly that and the sheep acting as mobile road blocks.
Whereas Milton Keynes has easy access to the motorway system and the concrete cows aren't of much use.

We had our house insurance with Saga for the last 6 years around £140 a year, this year £563. No wonder they are massively in debt.

EVs have gained a reputation for being expensive to insure. Some are, but then the X Power is a high performance car as are many BEVs. I would expect a high premium for a Ferrari or Porsche and this car is in the same performance league. My MG5 is ample for my performance needs and costs £300. It's worth investigating insurance before committing to an extreme performance EV.

My favourite thing in MK is when you have to slam the brakes when you’re already half way across a roundabout because someone looked and decided that pulling out at slow speed was somehow a safe thing to do

I slow right down for roundabouts, you can never tell what people are going to do. I've had people stop and wait for me before I'm even on the roundabout while others charge across right in front of me with barely a few feet to spare.

Try L&V.
The best I found.

My wife and myself just changed over our insurance over which is held with LV £615 as we are both over 70 with no claims protection and other stuff we thought was ok. We get our trophy March 3rd. My son has told his mum that her next EV could be a mobility scooter 🛵
