Laughable insurance quote from SAGA

I dunno why it's so high. The Tesla was over a thousand squiddies. I haven't had an accident or any sort of claim for well over 20 years.

Looks like we have to pay to cover for other people's carelessness. Hardly a day goes by when I don't see a new sign knocked down somewhere in MK. People lose control on the approach to roundabouts and slam into the chevron signs - idjuts!
Perhaps MK has become expensive. I've just received my renewal for £621. Up 24% on last year (which was up 59% on the year before). I thought prices were supposed to be reducing. I'm an old git too. It's scandalous.

The other week I was reviewing insurances for prospective new car (toy) Saga quoted £290 for an Aston Martin DB9 Volante (2008) 3K annual miles Thought quite good? The MG 5 is about £205 per year with 6K annual miles. (fixed for 3 years). Fortunately West Wales is not too high risk.

I've renewed (early) at a 4.7% discount on last year's premium with some additional free excess cover. My previous insurer subsequently phoned and tried to get me to renew, and could he see if he could improve their price (reminding me that I had 14 days to cancel my new cover). I questioned why I would take him up on his offer when I had already been put to considerable inconvenience by trawling the comparison sites, etc. and would be further inconvenienced by spending even more time on this annual essential evil.

Our poverty pack MG4 51 was $1800 for the 12 mths insurance, that's more than what I paid for any of the last 6 vehicles I bought, including a 2010 Jaguar XF V6 .... when I near choked he told me it went up $800 because we had had two claims in the last 2 yrs ..... both motorhomes that were parked near a building that burnt to the ground, not our fault .... didn't matter ......

Don't understand, is it the worst place for uninsured drivers because all the insured drivers are incompetent????
I'd guess it's similar to over here, the insurance in certain areas is so high, people just can't afford it, and the cycle just spirals out of control.
A lot of houses in a large part of populated Australia are now uninsurable, either a fire risk or flood risk ..... one of those things we will have to keep in mind to check out before we rebuild, we live on the side of the biggest river in Australia, we have never been flooded, but the location simply spins up $$ signs when insurance comes around.

Or if you have a spare million or two:

I remember watching a tv show, Grand Designs I think was the name, and they featured this house being built.

If I had a spare few million, I would skip the insurance altogether ;) As it is, it will cost us 3 times as much as we bought the house and land for 7 yrs ago, just to rebuild. We thought double what we paid for the whole lot was over insuring, but it turns out, since covid, we were under insured ..... Now the insurance company is messing us around trying to pay out even less than the policy covered,8 mths and still in limbo and still battling, while living in a motorhome on the concrete slab that is all that remains of our business we moved here to start roughly 8 yrs ago .....

Yeah, if I had a spare few million, they could shove their insurance where the sun don't shine
