LED bulbs for MG ZS EV headlights

Hi. I'd like to upgrade my headlights (HB3LL) with LEDs. Is this possible and can you recommend some bulbs? Thanks. Nick.

Could you share the exact model to buy and a rough price please. I’ve also picked up that care is needed when changing the headlight bulbs due to breaking a fitting?

Hi NickLamb. It is possible to change the headlight bulbs with LED's. I recommend these from Amazon they are called Novsight. The one I chose was the 15.000lm. they are really really good.

I have been studying various brands out there since September when I bought my car.

So much confusion out there as to which bulbs are the best, some with heat sinks built in and like these, some with small fans to keep the led's cool.

I know its a cost saving exercise on the ZS EV, but I have to say it looks so odd to have daylight running/sidelights in 6500k "White" colouring and the headlamps Tungsten. Hopefully these will bring are more nearer match along with the better lighting benefits these can offer.

Saw some youtube video where thy guy was reviewing LED headlights and he mentioned COB LEDs are the best, which is one reason why I went for the Nighteye ones over the Novsight ones. The Novsights don't mention if they're COB LEDs and they are more expensive (almost 3 times the price).

They won't match the DRLs when on because the DRLs dim to simulate sidelights when you switch the headlamps on.

When the DRLs (Daylight Running Lights) Dim, because they are LED they should I feel still retain there CRL (Colour Rendering Index) retaining the same level of White compared with the halogen/tungsten bulb which tend to go a Brown colouring when dimmed. This was really what I was referring to in my last post, not the brightness factor of the LED Headlamps v the DRL's but the colouring factor matching White for White. Or am I wrong? Andy

My Novsight bulbs are rated at 6000 kelvin.
The DRL's are now a bit warmer in colour temp. But that i can live with
But to choose bulbs rated at 6500 Kelvin !!!! That maybe be a bit to much!
Yes it's difficult to get to know which one is the best to choose. So many opinions. For what I understand LED bulbs need to have fans to be working at their best.
To me, the price was never being the top priority. The Novsight cost around 38£. That is a fair price to pay for the upgrade they made. Lighting is a safety feature on a car.

The DRLs are still white in colour, but the point I was making is they go dimmer, so the don't match the brightness of the LED headlamps when they're on together.

Speaking of DTRL's.....on every other car i've owned, when I turn the side lights on...the DTRL go off. This irritated me.
I tend to put my sidelights on when ever it was slightly murky of dull weather, to display to the person following, that I am actually "lit".
With the MG, the side lights ARE the DTRL so the only extra power I am burning is my (new) LED rear lights.....great...win win. Well done MG.

How did you find your LED Stop and Tail bulbs? Did you go for Red LED bulbs in the end?
How is the brightness compared with the filament lamps?
Did you replace the turn indicators and reversing bulbs for LED too?

I am looking to replace the rear lights for all LED, which ones did you choose in the end?

Hi Andy,

The tail /stop lights are great (as recommended on this thread) I've not replaced the turn indicators as they are used very little...and on some cars it can change the flashing speed etc.
The reversing lights bulbs I had in stock (but i've got new ones anyway) and the tailgate/rear light bulbs are also as mentioned on here.
I will be replacing the number plate ones soon....not had a look at them yet.
