LED bulbs for MG ZS EV headlights

NIGHTEYE or NOVSIGHT LED Headlight Bulbs?

After reading several discussions regarding which LED Headlight bulbs to go for, two brand names where mentioned several times one being more than double the cost of the other.

Yes I'm talking about NIGHTEYE and NOVSIGHT brands.

I decided in the end to go for the NIGHTEYE LED BULBS at £17.99 a pair rather than pay £38.00 for the NOVSIGHT ones and hoped I had done the right thing.

Members that had bought both brands seemed to be extremely happy with them, so hopefully I could not go wrong with the cheaper option - NIGHTEYE.

They arrived this morning and haven't fitted them yet, but physically look a well made product using COB LED's.

Then I found the "Statement Card" below at the bottom of all the packaging.

Would you believe it!

Grab some NIGHTEYES while at this price! as I certainly believe once the brand name goes completely over to NOVSIGHT, the price will more than double!

That is interesting reading for future buyers off LED headlight bulbs.
The thing to remember is that maybe we only talk about one or to names from the same company, but they make many models to choose from.
If you go and buy a pair off NIKE's they are also not all the same.
I have only bought one pair off Novsight, so can't compare with other brands or models.
The Novsight I got is rated at 15.000 lumens and are really Powerful.
So good luck in hunting a pair of Led headlight's. It seems very worth the effort on the MG.?

Can someone let me know if these are the correct fitment?

Hi Gary, Yes those are the correct ones, I only paid £17.69 with Free Postage & Packing for mine on ebay just a couple off weeks back now.

I just did a check using the "Buy Again" and it looks like there has been a price increase, as the same site is now showing £21.23 with Free Postage & Packing.

But even at that price, they look great and the results give a lot clearer road ahead.

They match the side/running lights well too for colour rendering.

After fitting them, I checked the height alignment against a wall at the same distance as the previous filament bulbs and there was no difference.

Brilliant Andy they look a lot better, the std one's just don't give off enough light at night... I'm not bothered about aesthetics or look's I just want a headlight to illuminate and they just don't.

Hi Gary,

On this thread, Jeps (Member) quoted he managed to get some Novosight LED Bulbs that are 1500 lumens and even brighter.

But you won't be disappointed with the Nighteye, which are from the same Chinese Manufacturer, just a different brand name.

As I previously posted on here, the Nighteye Brand Name is currently being re-branded as Novosight, but there are various levels of the bulbs, some offering higher brightness output, but these are mainly for "Off Roading Use", rally cars etc.

I have not had any problems of other road users flashing me to say my headights are too bright or dazzling an oncoming driver, but not sure if 1500 Lumens was too bright on the normal road.

Technically it should be mentioned that you are suppose to have "Self Levelling Headlamps" to be able to fit LED Bulbs, which of course the ZS EV doesn't have these at the moment, but you can manually adjust the headlamp levelling at anytime if you are carrying extra weight in the vehicle with the control to the bottom right of the driver on the dash.

But under normal circumstance, they haven't caused a problem for me.

Hi Andy.

Never thought of maybe my lights are for Rallying!
But maybe your are right ?.
The 15.000 lumens are very bright.
I never had any one flashing their lights at me, I am very cautious about not to blind any one, so I find the light height setting -1 to suit the best.

I just hope many will change the lights on their MG ZS EV, cause that will be a big improvement for the safety for what it comes with originally.

The NightEye you an others mention, seems maybe to be a god choice for others, it's a fair cheap upgrade to do to the car.

Although I am used to driving around in the murk with the headlights on my other car I am quite interested in doing the LED upgrade. I notice thought that the original as supplied bulbs are 60W and the highly recommended on here Nighteyes (that are sitting in my basket) are 72W. Am I correct in thinking there is nothing to be concerned with powerwise ?

The Nighteyes are 72W total, 36W each bulb, so no problem.

Currently cheaper £16.39 on ebay here

careful..they are not the same fit number which I imaging makes a difference
The listing has a model selection and im 99% sure its the 9005 fitting which should be exactly the same, maybe someone else can clarify. Thanks

How's the heat build up on those bulbs?
Being that I live in a place that winters do get cold and snowy, I need heat in my headlamps to minimize ice build up on them. ( a nice crisp -12c here this evening, not mutch snow yet, just enough to go skiing if you're into that stuff)

I really don't relish the thought of having to stop and exit the car to remove ice from the lamps when it gets cold outside.
And ice on the lams, or even worse, snow, really hampers the light a lot.

Hi Noraf142.
Maybe these headlights could be the solution for you. They seem to have been build quit cleverly.

Hi guys. First post here. Does anyone know if the same bulbs will fit a MG 5 that I have ordered ? Also will the dealer fix them for me as someone mentioned dubious legality. Thanks.
