Life after the MG5

Ah, I thought you were talking about a car being provided by your employer.
It kind of is. I get an allowance that I can use and if I go over it then I make up the shortfall and it’s salary sacrifice (the allowance is added to my salary as part of my employment package).

Has anyone seen a good buyers guide for 2nd hand Hyundai kona?
I bought a second hand one, just make sure motor doesn't whine and and any recalls if needed were done and has full service history. Other than that no more than any other car to check.

So, I got the MG5 on lease through work but opted for a shorter lease term on the basis that in a couple years new cars will be coming online that are a significant improvement over the MG5 and, importantly, will cost the same if not less.

Next year my car is due to be returned and I am really liking the look of the Kia EV3 which seems to have some serious real world range (actual Real Life (tm) 300+ mile range) and costing about the same as the Mg5 did brand new (and its not Chinese made) and quite a few glowing reviews from well established reviewers.

Seems we will be spoilt for choice next year as technology actually improves in EV's :)
I was in the same position, but eventually decided that getting another MG5 for £19,500 was too good to turn down. The EV3 was great on paper but too small in the back compared to the MG. Chinese is no longer a bad word for cars, just like Škoda, once a joke but no longer. In another two years we will probably be seeing solid state batteries and vast range and price changes. Don't knock the MG5, there is nothing to beat it for the money.

Looking for a 2nd ev now. Second hand market seems has some good options now.
Very undecided on what in the 10-15k price bracket and more range than the mg5. Kona is seeming a front runner at the minute.
I sold my MG5 in November and bought a 1 year old Kona and the Kona is a huge improvement on everything including range, so if you do change to a Kona I don't think you will be disappointed.

I too bought a Kona second hand, loving it but internal space is way less than the 5 and I would say not really suitable as a family car, it is quite 'compact'. There are only 2 of us so car is great for us.
Alternative would be e-Niro, but more expensive.

Think we came to same conclusion waiting for a e Niro 4 to arrive in to look at soon.

My friend has an niro EV and reckons my boot is bigger. My golf clubs and trolley fit in fine, perhaps it's the interior passenger space isn't so big but there are only 2 of us.
The MG5 was a bigger boot I think 475 litres where my Kona is 466 litres. The previous generation of Konas pre '24 were too small.

New shapes are out of my budget. With previous shape e Niro boot felt similar to mg5. Maybe tiny bit smaller but the rear seat area felt much bigger. Need the extra range. Usually have a kayak on roof for most my longer journeys and that knocks winter range down to under 150miles even with very gentle driving and low heating.

Brave man kayaking in this cold, having said that I use to windsurf in my younger days when it has been snowing, now at 72 I like to keep warm. Good luck with your car purchase.

As a new buyer of a MG5, we really like the car, our previous car a BMW I3 Rex has been a great and totally reliable car. We really hope that the MG5 is as good as Izzi has been, the change of cars has been forced on us by circumstances beyond our control, we suddenly realised that a larger vehicle had to be bought as Jaynes parents have got older and our 2 dogs needed more space and The MG5 fitted the bill best. I am disappointed there is no app for the car as it was used to charge the BMW with OVO anytime however it's sorted with a change to EON so no hassle, Izzi leaves us this week I hope he is as good for his new keeper's as he has been for us.

If you haven't already, have a look at this YouTube channel. Cleevely Motors run several MG5s as service vehicles and James reports are on them are interesting. Latest one is first MOT at 150,000 miles
