How do you turn the lights off when parked with ign on mg3 trophy?

Believe it or not, we have no way turn off the DRL's when the car is on, unless we Safety off or lock the car.

I just wanted to have a rest in the car with the heating on but not be bothered, what a stupid idea.

Oops I thought it was the headlights. Can't turn off the DRLs, but couldn't on my last few cars either, when the ignition was on. Checked again. Turn stalk down to switch off headlights. I do that regularly when I'm parked up but want the ignition on.

It's been law since 2011 for all new cars to have DRL's fitted that turn on automatically when the engine is started (ignition on) and turn off when the headlights are turned on.
So at all times some form of front light is on for safety reasons.
"They may however remain off in some low speed and stationary situations"
Seems MG may have interpreted "may remain off" as "may as well leave on" .

No I didn't, it's a stupid idea IMHO if you want to sit with the engine running parked in neutral why do we need lights on.

DRLs can be disconnected, but they can't be turned off with a switch. In Australia, the headlights on mine are either on automatically or if I was lower lighting, I have to turn on my parkers (one click upwards). Not sure about other states and countries/designs between the different MG3 models, hope this makes sense!
