Long term storage when on holiday

That'd be great Kev, as of today MG have no idea of what is the best thing to do, with the fiesta I just pointed it down hill and bump started it, a definite no no with these it seems.

Even their own manual is crap about how to check the battery level, it tells you it needs to be above 50% and bugger all else.
We got back after 6 1/2 weeks away. The MG3 started 1st time, with no problems. Can't say the same about my BMW, but that's a different story! 😂

We're back on Saturday after 3 weeks away, MG has still not advised on long-term storage, no more info on here either so it looks I'm going to be the road test dummy.

The annoying thing is if it had been a ICE car there is someone at home who could have run the engine for 30 minutes once a week, it's not an option on this though.
I saw a new post on this thread today so thought I would scroll back through the history and came across this post!

As it was on this Forum, I assumed you were referring to the MG3 Hybrid+ in your profile @Big Ears? The thing is the MG3 Hybrid+ has both an electric motor and an ICE, so why can't your friend/relative at home run the car for a bit each week if thats what you want? They might have to crank the heating up a bit to get the ICE to run but certainly at this time of year (Nov) mine normally starts in HEV mode anyway until the car interior gets up to temperature.

One other thought if you do return home to a flat battery, you could call the AA? I understand the AA cover provided by MG includes Homestart.

Because he doesn't drive but likes to meddle with things and his mother lets him change settings while she drives, he even decided it was a good idea to put out home address in the sat nav (you should never do that) I told him to leave the car alone and I got a load of lip, so the keys go with us when away

I am going away for 6 weeks in December, leaving the car at the airport, thinking of getting a solar trickle charger does anyone know where the OBD port is? (Too cold to look for it just now)

Located rh hand side under the dash just around drivers knee.

Just returned from sunny Thailand. Car left in Edinburgh airport carpark for 7 weeks December/January.
I connected a solar trickle charger through the OBD port.
On return happy to say battery was healthy, car unlocked and started with absolutely no issues.
