Loss of cruise control and collision warning

@Grahamjack52 Graham - I've now had 2 journeys up and down that stretch of the A90 and never had the problems we both experienced in May. So, whatever it was seems to have disappeared. I'm assuming that it must have been a road sensor thingy that was broadcasting on a frequency that interfered with the MG Pilot hardware or software. Brian

Hi Brian
Since reporting the fault in May it has happened on a further 2 occasions making 8 in all. However the last 2 journeys have been fine which ties in with your experience. Thanks for keeping in touch

@Grahamjack52 Hi Graham. I thought you might like to know that on Friday I experienced another MG Pilot outage going north on the M90 on the long left bend just before the St. Andrews turn-off. It came as quite a surprise as I've not had this since May so it took a moment to register precisely where it took place. I think it may have be at or around the last overpass before the turn-off. I returned to Edinburgh via the A92 so I can't say if it might have occurred on the southbound carriageway.

Interesting! There's obviously something interfering with the car's electronics but there's little opportunity to investigate on the motorway. I think I may write to the Director of Roads at Transport Scotland to ask if some roadside infrastructure may be causing the problem.

According to OfW48, Ofcom allows what the industry calls E Band microwave links in the range 71-76 GHz see:

Automotive radars usually work on 77 GHz.

I suspect there is a E Band link associated with one of the cell sites the OP mentioned and that the radar module in the vehicle is being upset by the microwave link signal in the immediately adjacent band.

Thanks, Kiwi. That is both interesting and helpful! I've written to the Director of Roads at Transport Scotland (that's the agency in Scotland responsible for trunk roads and the like) to ask if he can shed any light on this. I wish I'd known about the microwave frequencies before writing. But on second thoughts, I've inadvertently been able to keep some of my powder dry for a follow-up!

Hi all had another drop out yesterday 1mile before the St Andrews turn off. Reset itself on the turn off.
Hi Graham. I had one on Thursday on the M9 going west just after the M90 split. But I think on this occasion it was down to misting on the windscreen and hence the camera going into a huff. However, it wouldn't right itself after switching off and on at Linlithgow - our destination; or on starting our return journey 2 hours later. Thought it was something serious this time until it remarkably kicked in after about 10 mins driving! And it's been all right since. Crazy!
