@Stageshoot I have followed your posts on here and SpeakEV with interest. I doubt anyone in the UK has more real world EV experience than you (MG4, EV6, Kona, M3 etc.), For those that have been discouraged by some of the negative posts about the MG4 and are perhaps nervous about the switch can you provide your assessment in context?
I'm not expecting you to wax lyrical but in your view how does the MG4 compare to other cars you have lived with bearing in mind the cost for each?
Thanks
There seems to have been a general build up of whinging about all new cars recently, personally I think its a combination of people getting used to new tech a bit of buyers remorse due to the price and the general fact that all negativity is amplified on forums and social media. (Along with the Chinese so its crap and they are horrible people who kill puppies brigade)
As for the MG4
Its a brilliant well built car.. (I wont even add in "For The Price"). as its just a good car
Price wise its roughly what the Launch Kona 64 PSE cost in Sept 18, (Thats now £39k)
Yes there are a few software issues, its like they looked at things like the Traffic Recognition in the Tesla and said to a software co build me that right now.. It looks ok but really is nothing more than glossy packaging..
But the actual things that make a good car..
Build (No Bad Panel Gaps all seems solid no rattles)
Safety (Blind Spot Assist,Cameras etc etc)
Speed (Fast as the Kona or EV6 Air)
Economy is about 0.7 Miles per Kwh down on the Kona, and about the same as the EV6, so in Winter we are getting an easy 220 in summer imagine that will be up to 260-270
So far had no issues with scheduled charging etc, its just worked which is great,..
No Oil Leaks or Bulges with mine and it came with the R30 software, so doubt it will need to go back in till its 15k service about May.
Would have like Wireless Carplay of course, I tried one of the little CarLinkit things but found it unstable so went back to wired.
And Most Most important of all. SWMBO likes it so not getting it in the neck every time she drives it, unlike the Model 3 we had
Compared to our Other EVs..
BMW i3 was the biggest smile factor
Renualt Zoe was the best on the pocket (£19k battery owned) Wish those days were still here
Kona was the best general car/ev we have had (Built Like a Tank with super range) but boring
Telsa Model 3 Best Tech, but a lousy car
Kia EV6 (Nice Big Boat) Great Fast Charging, but underwhelming otherwise
MG4.. OK in all areas, not stand out anywhere, except the fact it does not really fall below average in any of them. Its just a good nice looking car that does (Mostly) what it says on the tin.
