Has anyone any experience of this of this plan, which is mentioned on the MG Motors web site. As my driving is very limited nowadays, probably in the region of 4 to 5 thousand miles tops, I would be interested to know how much savings are to be had by opting for this. Also, has anyone solved the issue about actual service costs?

Can you not get a quote via the MG website?
I've tried to get details and prices of service plans, or even service costs individually, but no luck. Tried Googling MG3Hybrid service costs. Again, no results. My car is still waiting delivery date, so don't need the information this minute, just curious. Already had one fright with my proposed insurance, so hoping these will be reasonable.

Wow, I'd definitely be interested in a Low Mileage Service Plan, I only do 3k or less per year (my 4½ year old Polo has just hit 11000 miles), please let us know if you find anything more on this @Aitch1

I bought a two year service plan for my VW when i got the car. The cost of the plan was £295. I had the services carried out both years but when i asked about renewing for another two years the cost was £500, so i said no thanks.

I used to drive 20K to 30K a year when i was working, but now retired i drive 500 to a 1000 miles a year so i thought i would only have the car serviced every two years, in fact i really only need an oil and filter change as the MOT checks most of the items that the service garage say they check.

The VW main dealer does not do just an oil and filter change, they do a minor service for £220 which i think is very expensive for what is an oil change by any other name. I have e mailed a few other garages who have not shown me the courtesy of a reply so they obviously do not want my business which is fine by me.

Some say with the low mileage i do the car does not need an oil change as oil today is long lasting. It could be a point that Arthur Daley picks on at resale time but when i sold my immaculate Smart to a Trader, he had no interest in the service history as he could see how good the car was and i got an excellent price for the car. There is a local VW Indie who i am going to ask for a price so we shall see.

Probably cheaper to just have low mileage services carried out by dealer when needed.
I have ZS EV and only drive 4000 miles first year service was £64 seconds year £150.

I wrote this under another heading here:-
Have today found out my first service at my MG main dealer will take 1/2 hour at £156/hour and cost £173.08. Checking MG's 'Maintenance Checksheet' I see all that will be replaced at the first annual service (15K mls) are the engine oil (4 litres) & filter. (No other filters) I will have only done about 5k mls. Apparently this is their low mileage charge for this service. What is going on?

I live between two dealers and the price varied, the selling dealer offered us a discount.

Other dealer, no discount offered in first email but not bad really.

so I asked again for a the contract price

The selling dealer said we would be able to get serviced quickly and a loan car.
Not discussed with other dealer yet.

This is what my selling dealer has quoted me……no discount for taking it out as a service plan….just add each years total (depending on how long you want it for)…..the worrying one for me is the 4th year service at nearly £1000 (inc. MOT)🙈

Think I’m going to have to shop around….

Hi Billy
My service plan on 10,000 ml pa is yr1 £167.48, yr2 £305.99, yr3 £403 37, yr4 £305.99, and yr5 £256.16, with parts and labour and VAT included, all paid for on a monthly DD. Something's wrong with your fourth-year price of nearly £1000!

The prices dealer gave me are same as on MG’s own website for the 15,000miles/1yr schedule. Also the overall monthly total is greater than the individual services added together if paying monthly? 🙈

Hi Billy
My MG service plan is over 5 years, which seems to be a cheaper option and far less per month.

what do that actually do at these different services anyway?
Hi Big Ears
I have no printed or digital documentation providing detailed work to be completed or checked for the next five-year services. Some members have attempted to track down a service manual, but as I see it, to no avail. Only the owner's manual is available, but it does not include a servicing guide.

I got this this morning after asking specific questions yesterday.

Do we really need to change the pollen filter and brake fluid, I've never done either on any car or van etc, modern brake fluid is either DOT 4 or DOT 5, and sump plug seals on every service I've only ever seen copper ones and you just re-anneal them

Has anyone had a dealer do a service or updates yet on the MG 3 Hybrid?

Mine's going in on the 9th of December to see why the software continually bongs on a road with lots of cameras, also annoying is the way it lowers the volume for each bong, I just mute the radio until the bongs stop. It seems selective on which cameras it reacts to as well, it'll bong at one one day but not the next. I don't mind it bonging but 2-3 times is enough to alert us, not continue until you have passed it. GRRRR.

Just turn the volume down/off for the bongs in the sat nav settings.
