How do we get a map update? a road I used yesterday has been open for about a year but it isn't on the navigation app, it is on Google Maps though.

Also, why can I talk to Google, via the car but not the car's navigation, not very joined-up thinking is it?

The built in Sat Nav is a little on the basic side. I generally use Wayz in conjunction with Apple CarPlay, and I'm sure it's available for Android Auto.
I bought a Wireless adapter (plenty available on Amazon at all different prices and spec), which means the phone automatically connects to the car without the need to plug it in.

Lets see if I understand it first.

So instead of just having the phone plugged into the car, you buy this dongle and plug that in instead and the car and phone see it and talk to each other with out intervention from me?

The car has a Esim (I'm told) and Bluetooth so how come they need a cable/dongle at all, seems a bit backwards to my none techy mind.

I don't want to spend a fortune on one so would this actually work, it seems to do apple and android as well unless I'm hard of reading this cloudy Sunday morning.

The first part is correct Kev, leave the dongle plugged in all the time, then when you enter the car with your phone, it will automatically connect after a few seconds.

As for the cheaper one in your link, I wouldn't like to say, I'd go for a tried and tested one myself, but you could be the guinea pig for the cheaper one mate. ;)

OI!!

Who you calling a pig eh eh eh.

Not much of a risk from Amazon, try it and return it if it doesn't work, I already have a cable so no biggy if it coughs and dies, I hate plugging stuff in and out on phones etc.

Looking closer at that one, it looks like the phone has to be plugged into it for it to work, so I don't see the need for that particular one, I'll look further.

I've looked into it a bit more and I may have a problem with my phones OS it's only 10

There is also the point that if the phone isn't physically plugged in it won't charge so I may not dongle it up.

Not sure what that is, can you post a link so I can see one please.

This is the one I use, and since I mentioned it back in May a few other people on this site have got it as well. I paid £50 odd at the time since then it has now come down to £35!
A couple of points to mention...
Disable the MG Bluetooth connection to the car, otherwise the car and the dongle both try to connect to your phone. This can cause problems with phone calls not working through the device.
On very odd occasions, and I have found this to be the case with my iPhone, sometimes the dongle has trouble connecting to the phone. I just unplug the dongle for a second which sorts it out.
I have devices for both my cars - both different brands, and the other one has the same occasional problem, hence I'm wondering if it's my phone, or whether all these gadgets suffer from the similar issues. I mention it, but as I say its only a very occasional issue which is easily sorted.
Finally, and just to confuse a bit more!
You can go one stage further, I have the following device for the other car, whilst clearly a lot more pricey, it adds an altogether much greater degree of features.
This device essentially turns the screen in your car into a tablet, with access to all sorts of things like YouTube Netflix iPlayer etc, in fact any app you find on a Tablet can be used in the same way on the screen in the Car. Whilst these features all work whilst the car is moving, to do things like watching TV whilst driving (to state the bleeding obvious!) is of course illegal, but as my other car is an EV, they are useful if I'm sitting in the car whilst charging.
Hopefully I haven't confused you too much!!!!
