Map Updates

@Pigger1972

My understanding of this is that ALL recent MG models no longer use Naviextras for SatNav data, so I would be very cautious about trying to use the Naviextras Toolbox to update your maps.

My wife has one of the last Petrol MG3s to be released and hers does use Naviextras (though, because of the price of their updates, she always uses Apple or Google maps).

CUSTOMER SERVICES has ignored my latest request for an update on the software needed to update the maps on my ‘3’ Hybrid+ - no change there then! One interesting item I have come across, however, is that ‘modern’ MG’s are able to use “what3words” for the destination. Still got to try, bit there was the proviso that yet another software update may be needed - again no surprise.

It's what I was told to do by naviextras..come up with 7 year subscription too...only thing different was older version of toolbox..might change near future but this worked for me..

Naviextras is only for pre 2024 cars, the current versions of the MG3 and I expect other new cars will use a different map supplier. As previously mentioned, certainly for the MG3 Hybrid+, the software is not yet installed to allow for updates!
Well it recognised my head unit as mg3 2023 and that's on the mg3 hybrid it showed the device Id and the 7 year subscription info was there....there may be an update coming but this is how it works at mo...get in touch with naviextras if you want confirmation..

After another enquiry of MG CS, they have come back, yet again, recommending I use a third party map via IPhone or Android as it will be more up to date! Referring to the inbuilt map, they say updates are via NaviExtras, although there is no reference to the ‘Hybrid’ on their site. Also experience of NE, a ‘finger print’ is required which my 3 cannot produce as it seems the needed software is not installed. Seems like a complete cop out by MG in this instance. As an afterthought, if someone has purchased an MG3 Hybrid+ in the last couple of months, what is the map date, mine is Feb 24.

For those that are still struggling, I've just sussed it.
The webpage that the satnav gives you is wrong!

Download Naviextras Toolbox from :-

This will download version 5.25, and this will pick up your usb stick.

Sadly, the latest maps are still 2024 q2, so there's no advantage if youve only just bought the car....

However, this update is registered as a 7 year subscription and is marked as free when you look at the account via Naviextras.com - Map updates for your navigation device and more..., so may be worthwhile revisiting in six months or so.

The latest version dated Aug2024 is actually the Feb24 maps, so no point updating if you've already got it. This is the address supplied by MG UK:

Naviextras.com - Map updates for your navigation device and more...
As far as I'm aware Naviextras.com does not apply any updates for the MG3 Hybrid. I also thought it did and tried them but was warned off it so have to wait for MG Europe to advise. Although some people report having receiving over-the-air map updates changes to their maps without due notification???
