Has anyone managed to update their maps in a MG3 Hybrid+. MG Customer Services don't appear to know how! My car qualifies for a free map update, but I cannot take advantage (the existing is out of date)

This is the address supplied by MG UK:

Naviextras.com - Map updates for your navigation device and more...
This only currently list the MG3 2023 which will be the previous model MG3. The new model wasn’t launched until Feb’ 2024. This is probably why you haven’t been able to update and MG services don’t know.

I believe the Hybrid+ was launched in Australia in 2023, but even so, a Customer Service Team should know, I have given them about 3 weeks to find out!
It was launched globally according to press release at Geneva Motorshow 26th February 2024 so there is unlikely to be any newer updates.
i’ve found with previous cars (not MG’s) that they tend to do maybe 1 or 2 a year at best. So what you have I would think will be the most upto date currently available.

Naviextras.com - Map updates for your navigation device and more...

My wife has an MG3, petrol, bought brand new in November 2022, so not the current hybrid, and it has SatNav maps from Naviextras.

Hopefully, MG has now ceased to use maps from that source since (based on my experience with my previous MG6, which also used Naviextras) any "update" after the first "free" one must be paid for, at a cost of at least £100GBP!

Needless to say, perhaps, both she and I now always use Google Maps, Waze or similar!

Collected new mg3 hybrid few weeks ago.Sat Nav will not accept any addresses but will plot places of interest. Having to wait 4 weeks for mg services to look at it...Grateful for waze in the meantime!!

My MG3-Hybrid+, now 6 weeks old, has mapping dated 2023 & Feb 2024. It works well but obviously outdated. It is not NaviExtras (thankfully) and after many mails to Customer Services, was finally given the correct detail, only to find the required software is not installed in the car to allow for updates - latest ‘will be updated sometime in the future’ so watch this space.

Was told would possibly be done at service. Latest mail from MG CS thrown a spanner in works, as they mention that a ‘free’ update would be down to Naviextras (?). I am losing faith in the CS team so have requested clarification with the intention of going higher in the organisation if necessary, as well as a report to the MGCC.

Further reply from Mg CS that when the necessary update is installed to enable map updates, an update will be free. Also confirmed it is NOT Naviextras mapping, although the update procedure is the same.

I found this update for MG4 : https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/manuals/MAP-Data-Update-for-EZS-MCE-LUX-and-MG4-LUX2-15.26.44.pdf . In the pdf there is link for download

I don't know if the map system is the same, I am a newbie of MG3 Hybrid+. Found these and posted , saying clearly that are for MG4. If it bothers you, just don't download them...
Hi minoccio, I understand your idea. Did you try to download and install them on your MG3? If so did it work, or do the files give any indication of the date of the update? Apologies for all the questions but I'm intrigued, maybe an update specific to the MG3 is imminent.

I only downloaded them to see version (23Q4_EU_20240111021553_p) and I don't think to try to install them on my car if I can't be sure that are compatible
Thank you for this minoccio. If I have decoded the filename correctly it looks like these maps are as at Quarter 4 of 2023 issued on 11th Jan 2024 for the EU. I think the current version on the MG3 is from Quarter 2 of 2023 dated 19th Feb 2024 for the EU&UK according to screenshots that members posted on this satnav thread . So it looks like the MG4 maps may be a bit more up to date (although issued earlier) but as you say probably not fully compatible. Will just have to keep waaiting & looking or go with google maps!!!!

I put a usb stick in the slot under the infotainment system and it said it needed preparing for use..did that said all OK to use with "naviextras" but the toolbox won't recognise the usb so can't log in to buy anything...hopefully this will be sorted as the maps on the car must have been uploaded somehow..
