AEB is obviously discussed a lot on here but does anyone know the maximum speed that will initiate a sudden full stop. By that I mean the brakes will be locked and the wheels will not turn. For me this usually only happens at low speeds. I have posted footage of one of my AEB incidents on another thread where the dash cam gps speed indicated 15mph, but the actual speed may have been slightly lower due to a small delay in the gps registering the actual speed as I was decelerating at the time. In my experience, above 15mph, if the car correctly or incorrectly detects a potential collision, (usually incorrectly), it will initiate heavy controlled braking to bring car to full stop or even just slow it down.
So just trying to establish threshold speed between instant full stop braking and braking to slow car down.

Strange question. the fastest way to stop a car is not to lock the wheels so they don't turn. Once you lock the wheels you loose traction, once you loose traction, you loose control. Sliding resistance is less than controlled resistance. The quickest way to stop, is just on the verge of locking up.

This will vary with road friction, so it's lower on wet roads and very low on icy roads. The assistance software is designed to maintain traction, at all speeds.

I thought that under 30km/h (so approx. 19mph) the MG will apply brakes itself, but over 30km/h it will warn first and then brake if you don't brake or accelerate? But I might be wrong, only recalling what I have read on here.

I suspect (as @decrep) says that the wheels won't actually lock - ABS would prevent that, even on slippery surfaces.

Edited to add... @Alb just beat me to that one ;)
