MG 4 noise above 60 mph

As soon as i go above 60mph i get a large increase in noise , like a thumming sound that is unrelated to road surface. Dealer (now former) said the usual they are all like that. Somehow i dont think so and if they are then its a bundle of junk. Anyone else got this issue?

Have you checked the tyre pressures?
Also what’s the total mileage of the car?

6000 miles , been like this from new, i rarely am on roads where i can legally go above 60 so live with it, tyre pressures fine

Tbh I changed the stock tyres after 5k miles because I couldn’t stand them anymore and 5k miles later, no regrets!

No noise on mine so they are not "all like that". I would be asking the dealer to change the tyres.

Might be worth checking the alignment first.

Could even be a defective bearing.

Mine is capable of going above 90 without me realising, then I guiltily pull back. No untoward noises at all.

It's likely to be tyre noise, the standard tyres aren't the quietest.

Can I suggest you have a test drive at a dealership and compare vehicles use same road , and my MG 4 is definitely quieter than ICE vehicles from a mechanical point friction and wind is different, but music is also an option.

try to measure the noise with spectrum analyzing app(like spectroid) and post screenshots here. I have noise at 40 Hz from rear suspension

I have a 1972 Kombi and a 6.1 2021 transporter believe me when I drive my mg4-51 it is soooo quiet I think that’s half the problem just to quiet and u pick on whisper sounds.

The only noise I get is from the road surface, it's totally quiet on very smooth tarmac.
