MG HS Essence Sound System

When I test drove this car, I found the sound for the front passengers was good enough.... But for the back passengers it was very bad. The back speakers in the side doors are just not loud enough. If we just try to replace them with after market speakers something like JBL with built in tweeters, it should be better. Has anyone tried to remove the side door panels too see what size and shape those speaker drivers are?

Also found this info from others, saying that "That the speakers are not Bose. They are Sonavox, a cheap made in China brand and there are 6 of them (2 speakers front and back and two tweeters up front). The grills in the back doors that look like tweeters are actually empty. In China the HS is fitted with Bose premium sound with 8 speakers and a sub".

Before going to the expense of changing speakers, there's a setting you can adjust called 3D sound where the options are front, or front and rear, or off. That might improve the sound in the back so try that first.

Today I went to the dealer again. Tried the same settings as you showed..... Unfortunately same outcome, there is no sound from the side tweeters, it is just an empty space for the looks.... And there is not enough power, volume coming from the bottom side woofer, passenger side. It is actually very obvious that something is not right........ Even my kids told me the same.... The sound was better on my Toyota Camry. Why did they design something like that, felt very disappointing. And nobody could come up with the solution, as there is not many DIY videos on how to replace/ upgrade speakers. Maybe changed the head unit, I feel that the head unit restricts the sound power for the rear passenger speakers. I even put a smiley face in the EQ settings, maybe it is clearner sound, but not equally loud at the back.

Can i jump on this, I just got a MG HS and in my sound system it is only showing 2 people instead of 4, and the sound is only coming from the front? is this correct or should i be going back to the dealer?

As I said in the thread you created in General Chat, which exact variant did you buy? Does that model only come with front speakers (like the MG4 SE spec)?
