MG iSmart app locks up

Good morning everyone,

My ISmart app has suddenly locked up.....I try to open the app - I get the MG logo - it's clearly looking for something - then it just closes.

I can't access any settings in the app.

Advice needed.....my gut feeling is that I will need to reinstall the app. Will this mean rebinding the car??

Try restarting your phone, not just turning it off and on again as that doesn't reboot the apps.

No you don't need to rebind the app. Use the same login details as you are using now. It's similar to any online account, you don't set up a new account every time you login after turning off your phone/laptop.

Before reading it, I cleared the cache using the phone's app settings. That didn't work....

Restarted the phone....sadly that didn't solve the problem either.

Looks like an app re-install, but I'm happy that reminding won't be necessary. I'm assuming from what you say that logging into the account should suffice?

Yes. You could also try clearing the apps storage as well as the cache.

Clearing the data did the trick....I'm guessing something got corrupted within the data area.

Clearing the data cleared the glitch, and I only then needed to re-enter my account and password. Connection to my MV 4 was then instant....the fastest it's ever been!!!!
Reinstalling the app, in this case, proved to be unnecessary.
Thank you Ian for your time with this. Good to have the app running again.
