MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Well, Here's a turn up for the books, Some of you might have read about my order problems with MG Chorley. I ordered another one, obviously from somewhere else, not for the same deal and lost the government grant, but that boat had sailed, excuse the pun. Anyway, I'm collecting my car, on Thursday!! the exact car, MG ZS LR Trophy connect in Red. Amazed does not describe it.
So lucky. Still waiting for ours..... Been TBA since the end of February!

Heard from a "logistics friend"that there are 450 containers each loaded with 2 MG vehicles to be moved from Felixstowe to Ipswich this week, from where the cars will be moved by road to dealers. No more detail available except that MG are using this as a trial run to test the possibility of using Felixstowe as a main entry port in future.

That’s no use as Unite are planning more strikes at Felixstowe ?

Did they perhaps suggest which models were on board, or could even find out please?

Only MG could make a decision to start using a port that is in the middle of strikes. Words fail..!!

I helped an old neighbour pack up a shipping container when he emigrated to Australia years ago. He took his Mazda premacy. When in the container we couldn’t open the doors so had to climb over the seats and exit via the boot.

Internal width dimension of Shipping container is 2350mm / width of MG ZS is 1809mm - therefore can open door by 500mm maximum. Very tight.

I wonder why other manufacturers are not doing this instead of using a vehicle ship that has to be more economical?

The cost of renting the containers alone would add a lot to the delivery cost.

I suppose every dealer could install a crane to remove the container from the lorry?

I wouldn't know about the economics but globally there are comparatively few RoRo's compared to container ships. They could certainly ship high volumes in containers much more rapidly than if they were reliant on specialist ships. I believe Hyundai have been using containers for shipping vehicles for several years now.

I would imagine saic own there own containers (R rack)?

Got an email from dealer this morning, all but now confirmed that my January 6th order won’t now arrive until the new year
That doesn't surprise me one bit. I'm a January order also and not expecting it until next year despite all indications showing late September.

12+ months should be a guide to most orders from January onwards - despite the positive spin being put on it by MG and dealers.

I haven’t hear anything from the dealership, but I also don’t think, I’m going to get it before next year, ordered 19th Dec 21, picked up by MG end of January 22, LR ZS Trophy, silver.. have talked with my mate about the MG4 and having that instead of the ZS, or having a different colour, speck…but said, I’ve waited for so long now, don’t see the point of jumping ship (no pun) I have two cars to run around in, till it turns up..may have a different colour, Black or maybe a white,if offered, but don’t like the other colours..

I’m going to cancel , MG are not a reliable business, communication has been dreadful and that is unacceptable for a new kid on the block

Il probably order the Renault Megane electric, not a huge amount more expensive
