MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

After months of hearing of delivery date delays following my December order (Mar to Jun to Jul to Aug), last week the leasing company told me delivery of my MG5 LR would be this week! They even told me the LA22 reg number. Too good to be true? Well, yes.

Today MG advised them that "they cannot tax any more vehicles in August", so now delivery is available from 1st Sept. They must have meant register not tax, as there is no tax on EVs and it seems very odd that there is a limit in any case. Anyone heard of this before?

So the wait goes on but hopefully not for much longer...

Even though the tax is free it still has to be applied for and it back dates to the 1st so it sort of makes sense

My "news" is slightly more encouraging - I called in to my non-communicative dealership on August 4th for an "update" and was told mine was showing as "built". A previous email to MG got the response that I should expect delivery late October. Not sure how long shipping takes, but mine may be shoved aside a little to accommodate the MG4 dealer deliveries. I have no doubt these are worth waiting for - they will be worth significantly more than we paid when they finally arrive.

Just contacted my dealer. My MG ZSEV LRTC White was ordered on 5th Dec 21 and MG UK confirm the order was in their system from 7th Dec 21. Status still TBA. They cannot give me anymore info. Getting really frustrated now as others ordering much later are starting to see their cars. Mine was a purchase not a lease as well. The dealers have zero information as others have commented on.

I haven't had my ZS EV TC order for very long (April) but I've pre-ordered an MG4 for a test drive in a week or two. Possible delivery late September if I like it. No brainer..

I’m also in two minds about going for the MG 4, but I would have been a little more interested in it, if it had had a panoramic sunroof, opening or non opening one, but I’ve waited so long now for the ZS and I’m in no rush for it…and the boot is big enough to get my golf clubs in, don’t know how big the MG4 is, may go and have a test drive in it..

The MG4 trophy model is just like the spec for the ZS trophy connect without the panoramic roof. 3 grand cheaper. I like the idea, will miss the roof but everything else is the same.

I'm in the same boat as you about the MG4 - will the boot fit my golf clubs in??! I don't mind if I have to put the bag in the boot and the woods on the back seat.

Dr John, looking at how you have been treated since ordering your ZS, I would cut your losses and switch to the MG4. The boot is more than capable of housing your Golf Clubs, the interior is larger than the ZS, it also has a lot more storage / cubby holes, plus i would imagine the residuals are far better than the ZS.

As much as I like the ZS, the car is an ICE conversion, and in a couple of years, a brand new ZS built upon the modular platform will be out.

And last but least, the MG4 is cheaper. For me, £3k cheaper for the Trophy. My only misgiving, is the current lack of Pano roof, the ZS i have on order (soon to be cancelled) has the Pano roof, and I must admit, I am gonna miss that, but this new MG4 ticks so many more boxes, well for me at least.

Probably the most realistic lead time really, and anything arriving before that is a nice surprise...

The 12 month lead time is not new. Tusker have been showing 12 months wait on ZS EVs for a few months now.

I was told mine would be registered last week, maybe this is why I'm still waiting...my current cars mot runs out end of August and can't get a test till December ???

Citroen and Peugeot were too small. Ford Kuga is good - got to think about the £6K payment.

I would have gone for the citroen but for the boot being too small (for the dogs) and also the range wasn't great.

I'd hang in there I bit longer if I was you, You bought when there was still some grant left. It will have the sunroof which is not an option now so no depreciation when you drive of the forecourt. I'd be surprised if you don't get better news soon.

I had a similar conversation as you in August same response (built) then nothing until I phoned dealer on Thursday to be told that car arrived that day. Have you checked with your dealer ? I ordered 3 days before you exact same car, could it have been on the same ship as mine?
