Hi everyone, I have just bought an MG ZS EV and it didn't come with a service book, is it supposed to come with one or is it all done electronically? Thanks.

So with it all being electronic, how does a buyer know that it has full service history? For example, all I know is next service is due in around 9000 miles according to the display (im currently on just over 13,000 miles on a Nov 2019 MG), I have no idea if the previous owner serviced it at the 1 year mark or not. I'm usually a fan of moving things online but I feel like this is something that should have been left to a stamp in a book every year.

I still received a written service report when my car had its first service…

Although I am a person the loves to have a paper copy of the service book, many manufactures have stopped supplying them now unfortunately.
I really don't think it is a cost saving based thing.
They probably stopped supplying them because people where taking the car to an independent garage for the work, then getting an ink stamp in the book as proof of the work being carried out.
Removing the paper hard copy, and keeping the service record on an electronic data base by the main dealer, is just another way of trying to protect the service history work.
VW stopped supplying hard copy service books a couple of years ago.
But, you could purchase a paper hard copy from the parts department and they will ink stamp the book on request.
Not sure if MG offers the same facility ?????.
The owners only proof of service is paper receipt for the work.
But this copy has personally details on this paper work.
BMW will by request, print out a paper service record of a car ( less any personal details of course ) at the dealership by request.

Toyota issued a service book with my 2016 Prius and kept an online record, which was accessible by the owner through the website, MyToyota.
I think MG should at least have a web page where owners can access the service history so, if you sell or trade the car in at a non-MG garage, you can access and print a copy of the service record.

Do you really need to service your car with Mg, I have seen so many issues with pricing. Surely going to a vat registered mechanic could service the car.

Depends if you still want the 7 year warranty.
