MG ZS Service book

Do you really need to service your car with Mg, I have seen so many issues with pricing. Surely going to a vat registered mechanic could service the car.
I would think the same but mg services are not that expensive so yes you get the aa cover thrown in and original MG software thats looking over the car
How many dealers will try and get out of the 8year bat warranty it's just less hassle keeping it in house

Hi everyone, I have just bought an MG ZS EV and it didn't come with a service book, is it supposed to come with one or is it all done electronically? Thanks.
There is an MG pdf file that lets you print off a service book. Presumably on the MG site. I have the file and can send you a link if needed.

I don't think it needs to be serviced by Mg to keep the warranty, as long as its been serviced by a reputable company it would keep the warranty.
It has to be an authorised MG garage.

They just have to use mg approved parts as their is no legal obligation to go back to the dealership unless claiming for a warranty fault.

Even claiming for a warranty fault can be done at any garage which has MG approval. As I read it, it doesn't have to be one of their dealerships.

But why would you ?
Using the MG dealer network gets you Free AA cover for the next year, that alone is worth the cost of the service.
Here are two reasons why. The independent garage who I have used for 15 years to look after all of my vehicles charged me £90 for the first service (including a cabin pollen filter which was not even a requirement until the second service as he 'couldn't bring himself to charge me for doing next to nothing'. Bristol Street Motors in Carlisle quoted me £250 and it would have been a 75 mile round trip. As I already have personal RAC cover which covers me for any vehicle I am travelling in (I have three), there is absolutely no reason to pay through the nose to an MG dealer who will do nothing that any other trained mechanic wouldn't do.

£250 for a first service is extortion, it should be less than half that, £90 + VAT is the standard MG charge for a first service (which doesn't include the pollen filter). In your case it's definitely better to go to your regular indy, especially since you already have your own RAC cover.
We just paid £170 at our local MG dealer for SWMBO's 3rd service and MOT on her MG5, which is around what the AA package would cost on its own, although the MG cover only covers the car whereas a separate bought AA cover would cover any car.

I completely agree with that statement. I realise that many other MG dealerships charge the price that you quoted above (my next nearest dealer, Chorley MG for instance), but Bristol Street Motors would not budge on the £250. Dealerships like that are the problem here I'm afraid.
