This a quote from Autocar MG3 review.
It’s not unusual for cars to better their quoted acceleration times by a little when we test them, but rarely do they beat them by this margin. MG quotes 8.0sec for the 3’s 0-62mph sprint. That’s already significantly quicker than the hybrid versions of the Renault Clio (9.3sec), Toyota Yaris (9.7sec in basic form), Honda Jazz (9.6sec) or Vauxhall Corsa (10.7sec in basic form). In perfect test conditions, the MG 3 took just 7.1sec, and it didn’t run out of puff after that, either, storming on past its official top speed to 110mph. Not bad for a little car with a 3-speed box!

Yes, I can confirm that.

Just today I was able to test its acceleration capacity by overtaking a lorry and a car at 70 to 120 km/h over a distance of 500 metres.

A poor Peugeot 3008 that was trying to follow me stalled and gave up.

My previous Jazz hybrid, which took the same route, didn't seem very nervous in comparison.

I can confirm flooring the throttle on a straight road, scared the williys out of me and brought a smile to face. The mg3 is fast enough for me and I can confirm overtaking on a country road , joining motorways and quick RH turn in busy traffic is very good.

I have no means to measure 0-60 times, but I have nailed it a few times. I'm trying to figure out why it lurches so much. I can only guess that the engine and motor are fighting out which does what. It's been mentioned in some reviews, so it's not just me.

I have tested my MG3H+ with dragy.
I have noticed the slight drop of the performance if you do again the tests and don't let the battery cool down and the battery not over 3/4 bars out of 8.

0 to 100 : 7,95s
Quarter mile (402m) : 15,93s @ 142kph
1/2 mile (804m) : 25,76s @170kph
100 to 150kph : 8,44s ... here the interesting thing is that we can see the car getting more speed over 120/130 (the kinda turbo lag effect)
80 to 120kph : 5,37s
Could be better if I repeat the tests soon or late, maybe 7.5... 7.1 like some youtubers did.

But my biggest concern is about the combo "tyres" Kumho HS63 which are not the grippiest of the world by far... + the ECU mapping which delivers a light torque from a standing start.

So the Performance mode could also be the one which gives a "drag mode" or some more instant torque.
Owners of Yaris Hybrid say that the torque is higher from 0kph on the Yaris than the MG3. And yes we can definitely believe that.

Thank you FromParis for this interesting work.

Kuomo (Korean) tyres are used on the MG3 but also on the Renault Arkana and most VW cars.

These tyres are well known, but on the MG3 they show their limitations by slipping easily under hard acceleration, particularly when starting off.

Some people are also talking about the need to adjust the front suspension, which could be the subject of an update.

No one noticing the weird way it accelerates, it's far from fluid, even reviewers comment on it, I've notice that it is a bit skittish, could be tyres or torque steer I suppose

Sometimes I have the feeling that the MG3 can't decide between the gears when you want to settle into a speed or even change it slightly. You can feel this when it's shifting back and forth.
When overtaking, I often feel a slight "hesitation" before it really pushes forward (and does so really well).
I have to admit that this is just my subjective impression and I am unfortunately spoiled by Volkswagen's dual-clutch gearbox.
Opinions are divided about the Khumos.
My choice will fall on a different set of tires as soon as the Khumos are worn out. ?

Yes, I've noticed the same phenomenon with the automatic gearbox.
Perhaps the MG3's software needs updating.

As for the worn Kuomo tyres, they'll be replaced by Goodyear or Continental tyres.....

I put that down to the tyres not being able to cope with the immediacy of the electric motor's power and the shifting of gears and between engines. It is an automatic without a turbo, that has characteristics of a manual turbo car.

In reply to all those drivers with problems accelerating, all I can say is i haven't experienced any abnormal reactions however I drive. Maybe I'm not sufficiently aware, or too complacent, of these minor glitches to worry about them. As I've said before on these pages, I'm very happy with the MG3 and, although I've owned Volvo, Chrysler, Toyota, Hyundai, Ford etc, I'm not in the least disappointed with my little red motor.
