MG3 Hybrid+ - Rear creaking noise when driving over bumps

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with their MG3 Hybrid+? When driving over bumps my car has started making a creaking noise on the left hand rear side. My mother purchased her MG3 Hybrid+ 2 weeks after mine, and hers has started making the same creaking noise at the rear of the vehicle also.

Any help or input appreciated.

Hello ash24x, my MG3 after just a couple of months started making the same noise that you're describing. Please let me know if you can get the problem sorted out

It could be a dry suspension bush. One for the dealer to sort out

Hi all, don't know about you out there owning/driving MG3+Hybrid Trophy's, but I cannot stand strange noises!! My wife solves these annoying problems by turning the radio/media up loud. Seems to work for her. The other day my new MG3 was making the usual creaking/rattling noises coming from the rear of the car and I investigated. Finally found the problem; been annoying me since the day that I bought the car (June 2024). On the rear window is situated the plastic (abs-plastic) shroud that houses the rear (high) LED brake light assembly. Removed it using a tool for removing plastic 'rivets' or as some would say, poppers! (These 2 'poppers' are located at the bottom of the light assembly. Don't try and remove the housing from the top). Albeit very nicely made, it was vibrating and causing a high-pitched rattle. Put a bead of silicone around the entire assembly and when absolutely dry (24 hours) re-assembled it. Result? Rattle free and quiet! Great. Just a small thing but I don't like 'strange' noises on my cars. Good luck all. To date; 6 months and 4000 miles and no problems; great little car. Quirky? Indeed it is! Love it. SG.

I noticed a rattle going over bumps, my car is only 3 weeks old. When I was looking around, under the seats etc for something loose, I noticed the rear seat belts don’t have much tension on them when not in use and I think the buckles rattle off the hard plastic of the door surround.
I buckled them up and it does seem to have solved my issue.

Very true; forgot this one! Yes, there are rattles coming from the rear seat belts as well. As you say, buckle them up and rattle disappears. Other quirk which I cannot fix. Inserted a memory stick into the slot and listened to my favourite tracks of music; no problems, sound was great. Now, nothing. Won't recognise the memory stick. Software problem?

I've buckled my rear seat belts up also the rear parcel shelf I've put a couple of adhesive pads under it

Finding a similar vibration on two week old car, especially on badly repaired roads. Very annoying.
Removed rear parcel shelf, boot floor cover, puncture kit , fastened rear belts . Found out under wing plastic mudguards loose and thought that this was the cause as the noise seems to be of this nature.
Not sure all the same and now booked in to dealer to investigate.

Hi @agh49 Did you take your car to the dealer? If so did they resolve the noise issue?

Hi ash24x. Yep, mine doing the same now. After over 6 months of quiet, took car out yesterday and the 'grauch' is there when going over speed bumps. I have to drive over six of them before I reach the main road. Quite pronounced and really annoying! N.B. No (sleeping) policemen were harmed in this process!! If you have managed to get this diagnosed, or indeed, fixed it, please follow up on your post as I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Andy.

Hi, I’m still not really sure what’s causing the issue however moving my front seat forward and back again, oddly seemed to fix my squeaking issue (even though the sound was coming from the rear of the car?!).

But we tried that with my mams car and it didn’t fix the issue, so I’m still confused…

Next Thursday I'll have the car checked by the dealer, I'll let you know if they can solve the problem.

Have the same here on my car, July 2024 > 7500km driven
Started making some noise coming from the rear suspension, since maybe 5-6000km when passing through speed bumps slowly. The rear makes a squeaking noise

Yep definitely rear driver side for me. Waiting for warmer weather to do full inspection and test so will let you guys know

Adding my MG3 Hybrid to the list - noticed last week that I am now getting loud creaking from the rear of the car when going over bumps. Makes it sound like a 30 year old car!

Just to add, my dealership called me today to do a 6 month followup on the car. Mentioned the creaking at the rear and they are going to take it in for a look. Waiting for a date at the moment.
