Hi every one.
Here we can say in one word some of the problems that MG3 have.

I begin with:

1. Transmission
2. Emissions fault
3.
4.

I had the Emissions light on, unscrewed and then screwed the petrol cap properly until it clicked, and one day later no light. This was suggested on here and my God! It worked.
Some problems experienced for me is Wrong speed sign recognition, Loud sudden electrical crack even sometimes with engine switched off.

I was just on the MG website, and if we had gone with the cheaper model we could have not only saved £2k we would not have this bugging me.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Zone Detection with Lane Change Assist, and Keyless Entry.

Hmmmm, so the SE is cheaper and less annoying, they don't tell you that at the Dealer, lol.

No, but they do tell you they have Trophy stock and the SE is two months, at least that's what we were advised.

Untill it has a great number and you've signed you can cancel, tbh we don't need heated seat and string wheel or the other stuff, certainly not worth £2k either.

The 360° camera has proved useful though as our drive is a cow, it's a compound hill too, impossible to reverse into so the mirrors are useless, but the rest you can keep.

All these things should be options like the do it in the US.

If it had been an SE in the showroom, the staff are so lazy I think they would have just sold us one of those Ann and I'd have been no wiser until I came on here, as said we just wandered in with absolutely no intention of looking at MG let alone buy one.

We should have looked more and done some research, which is the bosses department, so it's all her fault.

I do like my toys thought so I confess to being swayed by all the tech, hey ho, we live and learn.

When you look at the competition the Trophy with its extra features is thousands less than it's rivals, so for me there's no question that is the model to go for.

I agree, it's just stuff most of us don't actually need, I'm not complaining, my only issue is the software does not stay as I set it mainly.

I went for the Excite (SE0) because the Exclusive (Thorphy) was two grand more and apart from LED headlights, there was nothing on the Exclusive that I couldn't do without. Yes, the 360 camera and rain-sensing wipers would have been nice, but the spec on the Excite was good enough for me. MG had very little information on the interior trim of the Excite on their website or brochures and were noncommital on when they would arrive. However previous experience has taught me that mid-spec (three levels over here) is usually the sweet spot when it comes to trim levels.

In terms of problems, I have had some niggles but nothing major. Niggles around some of the ADAS, such as ELK. I now have it as part of my pre start routine to switch this off. Had an issue with the toggle function on the left hand side, as it wasn't working with the aircon on the star button. Swapped over to the right and all is OK.

Problems -

1 - general confusion over functions. Overly complex functions that I do not find intuitive, nor the user manual to be much help. Even simple things, like remote opening the boot. I thought it had failed, but we (car shared) were just not pushing the button for long enough. My last car, a Fiat, was so intuitive, I don't think I ever referred to the manual.

2 - all the warnings and the car resetting to the same driving and regen modes, so it takes a while to get going after every start. I have heard that about a lot of cars, it is not just an MG thing.

3 - steering wheel not straight, and tracking off, so car drifted left. Sorted by the dealer under warranty, but the steering appears to be very influenced by the road camber, so it can still not be straight, when going straight.

4 - the iSmart app can find the car, but not link to it, so cannot get any functions to work. Dealer useless. Manual hopless. Still working on it.

5 - the big door sills get very dirty very quickly. Don't wear light trousers!

I agree with all you said. I still can't get regen to work on the Star short cut.
I'm growing the opinion that some cars are not quite sorted Ann, mine is set to work on the left * button, maybe trying again by removing it then setting it up again.

It's a shame you can't set up turning things off on them that you have to repeatedly turn off in settings which is a RPITA

Iin terms of MG Pilot, it's all to gain a decent NCAP rating. It is a pain, but maybe if they get 5 stars it might help lower the insurance grouping.

I am now able join the ‘Emissions warning fault’ club.
The light came on earlier, and I have tried the fuel cap trick but without success.
I am leaving the car for about 15 minutes, let’s see if it goes off. The only other thing - the tank is certainly towards the empty level, so I wonder if that’s connected.

Well I filled up and... the light is still on...
Looks like I will have to try my dealer, given the service department never answers the phone, this could be a problem. Unfortunately I have a feeling MG Service is going to be decidedly 'budget'!

Fingers crossed still no probs here, but agree a lot of this tech isn't as intuitive at it could be, just struggling on with it is the only way for me. Perhaps the only solution would have to be more expensive proper manual switches for which there is no room. Its all getting too complicated to simply just enjoy a nice drive anymore. OK for me I can jump back in the "MGF" and reset - how about you?
