MG3 review from Nobby

Reviewers all seem keen to point out the cheap plastic on the door cards, well yeah, it's a cheap car, but it makes them easier to clean or wipe down when you open the door in the rain, lol :p

Yep agree, car reviewers seem to be obsessed with "scratchy plastic" never bothered me personally. ?

The reviewers who worry about scratchy plastics were born after the days when radios, demisters and floor carpets were optional extras.

That is true, but one thing that was not an extra in those days was a spare wheel. No car was sold then without a spare. The useless gunk is no substitute for a proper spare.

Even worse in the MG3 Hybrid there is a well in the boot for a spare but some bright spark MG designer decided to put the 12 volt battery in the spare wheel well. Surely the battery could have been fitted to the right of the boot leaving the well clear for a spare as in the original Rover Mini if anyone remembers that car?

I would have to store a spare upright in the rear foot well behind the passenger seat with the seat pushed back to hold the wheel in place, as i would not drive any car without a spare.

I understand your bitterness, but for a long time now the spare wheel has no longer been an option.
Why is that?
There are a number of reasons, including the fact that it adds to the weight of the car, but also that the probability of a punctured tyre is very low in the 5 years following purchase (< 5%), but also that the rubber rather than the material of the tyre deteriorates over time, even when sheltered, a spare wheel also requires an EFFECTIVE lifting jack, as cars now exceed 1000 kg, not to mention the difficulty for some people of having the strength to unscrew the nuts.....
Last but not least: car assistance is now included either in your car insurance or by MG motors, and breakdown assistance is provided free of charge and in complete safety, often in less than 30 minutes.
