I am currently driving a Toyota Corolla and like the way it drives but the wife finds it a bit low to the ground. So recently I took a test drive in a Yaris Cross and a MG3 over the same route. First was the Yaris Cross. The first thing I noticed was how harsh and loud the engine was. Then on the motorway the road and wind noise was unacceptably loud, Disappointing as I quite like my Corolla, the only criticism I have of it is that at motorway speeds the road noise is more than I would like.
Then into the MG3. First impressions were good as I headed for the motorway and once up to speed I thought the noise levels were on par with my Corolla. On on one rough road the Yaris jiggled over the imperfections whereas the MG3 was very smooth on the same road, so comfortable suspension which is what I like. Maybe its because I am gentle with the throttle but I never noticed the gearbox change gear.
On returning to the MG dealership after my hour drive I did have a bit of back ache, I don't think this would put me off, whenever I change my car I usually find that it takes me a few weeks to find a comfortable driving position. So the Yaris is out of consideration and the MG3 is a possibility. There is one thing on my mind, I would be changing from Toyota that has a supreme reputation for reliability to MG which isn't that great reliability wise and reading this forum I see there are a few things current owners are having a few problems with. One thing that can't be denied is that the MG3 has a great specification for its price.
