So this is a bit of an esoteric complaint but my wife is now talking about trading in the 24 model mg4 for something else because... well to put it bluntly she's a short arse and the bottom edge of the door sill hurts her legs every time she gets in and out of the car.

The distance between the seat and the edge of the car is quite far, so she hits her legs on the edge every single time and it's really annoying her.

Does anyone else have this issue? Do they have a suggestion for mitigating it?

We've only had it for like 4 months and really quite like it... id hate to have to get rid of it for this one reason.

I’m 191cm and I’ve cut my leg on the door sill.

Luckily I can just step out further than I used to in my old car, but it is definitely the strangest issue I’ve had with a car.

It doesn’t happen when I’m wearing long trousers in winter, it’s a shallow cut. At first I didn’t even realise I cut myself until it started itching a bit at work. Thinking it was one of the scratchy kids I work with, I ran an alcohol swipe across my leg and that stung like hell. Assuming it must’ve been the kid, I dismissed it, until the next morning when I got out and realised the wound lined up perfectly with the door sill edge.

I wonder if you could sand the edge down a bit somehow, but as it’s easier for me to just step out a bit further I’ve never really bothered with a fix.

I don't think there is a solution unless she can change the way she gets in and out.

The other solutions are to change either the car or the wife, but I don't think you'd want to do the latter.

I'll have to look at this - not even noticed it.:cautious:

Definitely noticed it as being an extra wide sill, but I've adapted to that. 🤷‍♂️

EDIT: Are you talking about the plastic bit on the very outside?

I knew there had to be an advantage to having long legs, apart from not needing to ask someone else to get something on a top shelf...

Just had a look at mine, it does stick out a lot further than most cars but it's not sharp, at least on my car. It's a nicely rounded edge.

If yours is sharp, I suppose you could put some thick insulating tape on it. If it's just a nuisance that you're bumping into, I don't really know what you can do about it.

haha no I'm not changing the wife...

yeah correct. the area below.
I have longer legs so I can get over it no problem (tho it is a noticeably wide gap between the low down seat and the extra wide black door sill) . but the wifey's legs always whack up against it and its a painful experience when it does.

yeah I wonder if a sloped infill could be manufactured for it.. the tolerances would have to be super tight there is a small gap that could extend the size of the sharp "lip" they hit their legs on that would increase the surface area and make it less painful for the delicate ones in our lives :p

Can she stand on the ledge first and then jump off?

I remember reading about this issue before getting the car but wife and I haven't been troubled by it. Might have happened to me a couple of times but I soon learned to get out in a different way.

I think many other EVs will be the same, because they are fitting a big battery into the bottom layer of the car.
