MG4 First 1000km in Ireland

I have a SE SR and have issues with the rear brakes binding on occasionally. Done about 400 miles. Dealership had the car on the ramps today and the wheels are free to turn but agreed they will strip the brakes down and clean them up and lubricate as required. They also agreed to order up new washer jets for the windscreen wipers. Not performing 100%. All this will get done when the remaining seat cover turns up. He reckons maybe another week. This will rectify the original covers that are creased badly.

Got the car back the same day.
Brakes were stripped but they said they were already lubricated.
Infotainment SW updated to R33.
I have to get them to recalibrate the rear camera at a later stage as they have to get the calibration checkerboards.
LKA continues to default to ON.

Updating at 2k+ kilometres.
I really do like this car. I was helping the wife buy a used car recently and it made me appreciate this all the more.
Looking forward to seeing the range in the summer.

Picture taken from a mild day with no aircon use on the way home from work. First time seeing <15kWh/100 and mostly on 100km roads.

That's pretty much bang on the WLTP range!? (I think WLTP works out to 4.27 miles/kWh)

Well I'm up to 3k now. All going well.
And I've stuck on a badge, whatever about other paints the silver badge really doesn't suit white.
I'm sceptical of it's longevity though, if I were to do it again I'd probably replace the glue strip in it with some two part epoxy.
First tiny rock chip on the driver door was the impetus to order mudguards.
I can confirm what others report; the paint isn't great.
For the last few weeks I've been keeping it in ECO seeing what kind of efficiency I can achieve with it.
Pretty great, but I put it into sport this week. Boy it's easy to forget how fun this thing can be. Do yourself a favour and don't forget to pop into sport mode now and again.

Beautiful, black badge suits white ??

I'm back with an update at 7000km.
Brought the car back to dealer for a calibration of surround cameras and a list of software issues.
Note for others in Ireland: Six months into car ownership they now finally have an update to the traffic sign recognition to localise it for Ireland. No more constant flashing over 70kph.

The other issues:
  • R33 causes Bluetooth to re-pair to my phone constantly. Head unit switching between day/night mode also causes Bluetooth to drop, switch happens in every shadow. So it has to be set to one mode always.
  • When using handbrake it occasionally does not dis-engage with an error "fasten seatbelts". Seatbelt was fastened and only way to get it to drive again is to move to park and back to drive on gear selector.
  • Pre heating/cooling car does not work if it is plugged in and not charging e.g. in he morning when it was left plugged in.
  • If in-car audio comes on (battery alerts, hello-mg, etc) it lowers other other audio sources and keeps them lowered. Have to switch to radio and back to source to fix.
I was fine living with the issues until the handbrake one came up.
I can get over infotainment problems on it, but a fault that affects my ability to drive the car very much annoys me.

The dealer said MG are working on fixes for some of the issues but were unaware of the handbrake issue, which others here have reported seeing too. Goes to show that these cars need to be put back to the dealer, even if it's a minor issue nothing will be fixed without people reporting the issue.

I used the car on a Tesla destination charger a while back getting ~10kWh, so I guess I have 3 phase after all.

I agree about letting the dealer know even if you find the fix on a forum like this.
I reported that the switching back and forth between light and dark mode on start-up sometimes causes my infotainment screen to remain blank. I haven't had it updated yet as by keeping it on dark mode doesn't cause the problem but they are reporting it to MG.

10,000km Update:

Flying ahead of my mileage allowance on the PCP.
Still a solid car, still enjoy a bit of fun in sport mode.
Used felt to eliminate various cabin rattles.
After having a kid recently and now realise just how small the boot is :ROFLMAO:
And how much of a pain it is not having an interior light or the back seats.
Still gritting my teeth at a long list of software issues, so booked in for 3rd set of updates since getting the car.

Full list of issues:
  • Android auto intermittent crashes. (on multiple phones and multiple cables)
  • Auto headlights constantly fail. Usually stop working between 5-20 minutes into a night time drive. Will not come back, sometimes toggling in the infotainment will bring them on. Other times total car shutdown is needed.
  • Constant Bluetooth re-pairing requests. (Multiple android 11 phones)
  • Bluetooth audio will intermittently start mute, have to switch to radio and then back to Bluetooth and then it'll work.
  • When using handbrake it occasionally does not dis-engage with an error "fasten seatbelts". Seatbelt was fastened and only way to get it to drive again is to move to park and back to drive on gear selector.
  • Intermittent Power Steering Fault. Only appears for a second.
  • Incorrect tyre pressure readings in cold weather.
  • Pre heating/cooling car does not work if it is plugged in and not charging e.g. in he morning when it was left plugged in.
  • AC temperature is ~4 degrees off.
  • Head unit occasionally boots to black screen. Have to hold home button for >10 secs to reset.
  • Rear collision alert (three quick flashes of indicators) occurs often. e.g. If someone overtakes on adjacent lane it will usually come on.
