MG4 - First UK dealer hands on photos and specifications

Auto sensing wipers on my MG5 have a mind of their own, as they did on my Mk1 MG3. I'm assuming it's a cheaper or more basic technology than in other cars to help keep the prices keen - on my Kia Niro for instance, which I had before the 5, they seemed to work much better. My Mk2 MG3 did better without them, so I certainly wouldn't miss it personally.
Yes, they were hopeless on my MG5 LR too. I do wonder why the Trophy spec doesn't have lumber adjustable seat when the MG5 had them. Are they implying the 4 is aimed at the younger crowd ;)

Not a chance, wish they would but not a chance, wouldn't make sense for them to
With the amount of positive reviews MG will certainly not have a problem shifting MG4’s
In my opinion, they have aggressively and attractively priced to sell high volumes without the need for affinity or other promotions.

Low pricing can be a ploy to dominate the market in the long term. I doubt whether there is any altruism here.

It's reports like this that have me wondering about MG's quality. Should I think again about leaving Hyundai/Kia?

Well, having driven Hyundai for the last 5 years, in either plug in hybrid (with no rear wiper), or a Kona Ultima, I have absolutely no problem switching to MG, as the value and residuals (MG4), are extremely strong. Another point is the 7 year warranty, that is comparable with Hyundai, indicating decent quality..

MG are basically Hyundai and Kia 8 years ago I recogn. Gey a good name then up your prices
Let's hope MG tech and quality isn't 8 years behind Hyundai / Kia. I'm interested in joining you guys next March '23 and hope you all post up to tell us truthfully how it works out over the next 6 months including dealer interactions.

Excellent idea, MG has come a long way under the ownership of SIAC
they are certainly giving competitors a run for the money, I’m on my 4th in a row and looking forward to getting my MG4 soon.

People forgot how long Hyundai and Kia have been good. The Ceed and i30 were out 15 years ago and they were certainly on par with the likes of the Civic and Corolla (Auris)and better in some ways such as the entertainment technology. MG4 brings MG up to that sort of level, i.e one of the best in class, reasonably good looking and cheaper.

MGs past efforts 5 and ZS were kind of like what Hyundai was selling with the Lantra estate back in 1996. Very credible cars but not as polished as the competition with some previous generation or two styling.

Brands from China have the usual MO of moving upmarket but keeping prices less than western brands. Time will tell...

! I went for SE short range for pure value. Dealer at Mg Longbridge/Redditch says he's had loads of orders for trophy but i was only 2nd order for short range
Hopefully I’m the other “black sheep” then (same dealer - ordered last weekend), I went for the SE short range, for the LFP battery / value also.

I also have opted for the SE based purely on exceptional value, yes, I know the Trophy looks fantastic and has more kit but do I personally need it? realistically no, of course, if money was no object I’d have no hesitation.
I currently drive a MG5 excite so it’s going to be a massive step forward,
I bought it last year for £19500 I’ve been offered £21400, the new one is £25995, as they say, you do the maths.

Ha fingers crossed for us then! Having watched some video reviews including whatcar who had a blue SE im not regretting my choice at all as it stands. Can't wait! Extra range would be bonus but not essential but much as i would have probably just gone trophy if money was no object honestly its only the camera and front sensors id actually be interested in and that alone is not worth 3k.
