MG4 got Special suspension or 50/50 weight stuff?

So guys ive noticed this car rides so well sometimes it feels lightweight...

Is it lightweight compared to gas versions?

Sometimes when im going in a bridge and it starts the slope down - and im going at 50-60 kmh i notice the rear tires lift up and makes squeesh sound (like power stopping) - feels like lift off.

And every corner and bump feels soft. I love it.

Im wondering if this car got a special suspension system or its just a 50/50 weight distribution + rear drive + lightweight stuff

i weighed my MG4 Excite 64 (Australia) at a local bulk supplier and was surprise it came in at just a bit over 1700kgs. It’s about 100kg lighter than my Toyota Hilux ute and a similar engine power. The balance between front and back makes it sit very well on the road and on some of our bumpier roads the suspension is slightly harder than other vehicles I’ve owned but it is a dream to drive. Just enjoy it!

There's no ICE MG4 to directly compare its weight to, but EVs are generally heavier than similarly sized ICE cars.

Our old cars:
2012 WRX - 1413kg
2016 Mazda CX3 - 1226kg

MG4
Excite 51 - 1635kg
Essence 77LR - 1748kg
XPower - 1800kg

In my personal example, MG4s are considerably heavier for very similarly sized cars. My XPower is near enough to 50% more weight than my CX3 (and 100+% more performance). The WRX was longer. XPowers have uprated suspension over other models, but IMO could use more if you're...spirited...

Sounds like you are jumping the bridge

No, no sarcasm, looks pretty unusual to me, looks like there are quite a lot of moving parts to it to my untrained eye, but I agree it gives the mg4 a great ride.

I dont think that diagram bears any resemblance to the MG4 from my untrained eye. The diagram looks more like a race car set up whereas the MG4 looks more like basic McPherson strut arrangement. I haven't looked much and could be completely wrong mind

I noticed that the diagram didn't look like the X-ray view of the MG4 later in the linked article. Perhaps that article is some wildly exaggerated fluff designed to boost sales in Nepal?

I think the diagram is for illustrative purposes only.

Just a multilink suspension. Most modern cars have it.
The MG4 turns pretty well; 50/50 weight distribution, RWD and low center of gravity helps a lot. But I do feel that there is a lot of body roll (stiffer anti-roll bars should improve handling). I also find the suspension too hard and the damping too soft. This is probably because the MG4 is relatively heavy for such a compact car. If you were to install stiffer dampers, the car would become uncomfortable for most people.

I think MG have got it just about right, it is possibly the ‘safest’ feeling car I’ve driven due to that combination of soft and firm.

It is a joy, isn't it? This was one of our concerns when we were thinking about the car, as our roads here are very bad. So when we had a test drive, we chose a road we knew was particularly bad. As it happens, on that day they were repairing one section! But the rest we knew to be a real challenge, which we barely felt in the test drive car. That made our minds up.

Are you looking at the front suspension which does appear to be McPherson strut. The explanation is referring to the rear suspension which is a five link setup.
