Was at the dealership today for the under tray bulge, they’ve confirmed the issue and ordered the part from the East coast, all warranty of course.

Anyway, as I was picking up the car I overheard them mentioning they always do all updates when a car comes in for service. I asked the lady afterwards and she told me if you bring the car with a specific issue they’ll update that particular part (say, infotainment screen for example) but when booked in for an actual service they actually go through and update everything. Do others have a different experience with this? It sounded too good to be true compared to what you read about (mostly UK) dealers on this forum.

Also found out I’m too tall for a Cyberster, although if I was going to spend that kind of money I don’t think it’d be on that car anyway..

With my current Hyundai Ioniq 28 - they always check if there are any software updates when I take the car in for its annual service.

I called my local service centre to book in to have a tow bar fitted. They rang back to say MG Australia have no stock of tow bars and no ETA of when they will be available.

I have written to MG Australia to validate this and ask them for an ETA.

I wanted to use MG to ensure compatibility and warranty are secure.

I used the MG service department at Albion Park rail NSW for my 1st service and they did the software update at no charge and the service was also free.
Thinking UK owners get ripped off maybe Australia has stronger consumer laws ?.

Mine will be going in for the first 2 year service in August. I haven't been concerned at all with the software other than it being a bit laggy at times. I will be asking for all of the updates when I book it in. & hope they make it better.

As far as I know there is an addition to Satnav planning, a change to the ACC increase/decrease, LKA shortcut, but that's all I know. Hopefully it will just smooth things out a bit.

Voice activation for phone calls doesn't work at all, though I never make calls when I'm driving anyway. Answering them works fine. I could use Android Auto as that works well but I mostly don't bother with it

I am not sure but sometimes I feel that my car has had updates at night as things I feel were a bit not so good like tyre pressure warning coming on and radio coming on at weird times when driving have been fixed? Who knows.

Hi can you tell me what the latest software version is? I'm about to do a pre purchase inspection on Saturday and want to make sure it is the latest, thanks

The only ones you can easily see are the Entertainment and Telecommunication software I believe. My car got delivered Oct '24 and is on SWI165-29176-1100R11 and SNAKP0432A respectively.

There are many modules that can be updated which you can maybe see in the engineering menus but I doubt whoever has the car now will let you go digging around in there.

If the car has been serviced by a dealer it is reasonable to believe the car will have been updated as this appears to be a standard part of regular service here in Australia. No guarantees of course. And that would most likely only be if the car has done more than 40.000kms as the time interval is 24 months, and the MG4 only came to market in August 2023 for us.

This car is brand new around 15 kms on the clock but a January 2024 build so sitting in the yard for 12 months. I asked about pricing for the scheduled services and they gave me a link to go to but that link did not have any prices on scheduled services for the MG4.

Also should I ask for a 1000 kms check up service or that is not necessary and the 20,000 2 year will do?

Shall I ask for actual $ figure for scheduled services in the contract so in 2 years time the prices are jacked up and I can "lock" in the prices now?

Mine is also a Jan 2024 build but it is possible they ran updates before I took delivery, I don’t know if they did.

My dealer didn’t mention or do the 1000km check up service, and I haven’t seen an option to lock in service pricing either. But I can never hurt to ask about it of course.

ok thanks!

Also I enquired about the undertray issue and was told that the earlier models had this issue and the MY24 doesn't have it? It this BS from the dealer?

BS - probably. When I was in my dealer for the 2nd service late last year one of the MG4s in the showroom still had a warped undertray.
