Question - Does the MG4 work with the V2/3/4 Tesla super chargers here in Australia (the ones opened to other EV manufacturers?)
Yep. Here's mine charging at the new Raymond Terrace Supercharger site on way to Sydney and again on way back.

Have also charged at the Thrumster Supercharger several times.

All versions of Tesla chargers work here in the UK.
I thought I read somewhere that you typically get slower charging speeds from V4 superchargers. Something to do with the back end equipment not being V4 yet, but that makes no sense to me.

Has anyone noticed this? Or the lack thereof?

The V4 superchargers are the "unholey" ones.

Not heard of that, mind you I think I have only used V2/V3 ones myself. Not tried a V4.

I was surprised at both how compact it was and how easy it was to set up. Pretty much just plug in, connect phone via bluetooth, tap the confirmation on the car's display screen and that was it, CarPlay started up. It comes with a small piece of double sided tape so I stuck it under the centre control shelf out of sight but stuck to the front panel, not the underside of the shelf itself.

I then went into the unit's settings (use a browser on the phone you connect to it's own local IP address) to check for firmware updates (none) and to change the start up delay to 20 seconds to give the car's system time to fire up before it tried to connect. That was also very easy.

CarPlay worked no differently to being wired, nice and fast response. Mine usually has the Waze app running.

I'll see how it goes but it seems to be a good solution for wireless CarPlay in the MG4.

Jumping in!
Purchased my 2023 MG4 Essence 64, metallic black, in January 2024. In love.
Some problems with tech I am going to manage this week with MG, because I’ve troubleshooted for almost 5 months and I can’t resolve:
  • My iPhone 15 doesn’t charge on wireless charger. Nor does my kids phones or my partners Samsung. Charges with no liner (part number 11014612)- yes I removed it to reveal the wireless charger thing on underneath to test- but adding the liner no charge. I’ve googled the part and no hits, I thought at least I’d find the part that says if it’s made of all plastic or has a wireless charger ring inside it. Nada.
  • Apple Car Play is hit and miss. Mostly miss. The car needs top of line cable direct plug in to the phone, even then mostly miss. Plug in, unplug, plug in, unplug, round and round.
  • Purchased a Dongle- “https://amzn.asia/d/8Xm6moz” from Amazon, recommended through this forum. This uses bluetooth to the phone but plugs into the car. I stuck the dongle to the underside of the phone charger holder part of the dash so it’s hidden. Again, hit and miss, virtually the same connectivity as the direct cable. I don’t like the direct cable because it’s not very 2024 EV techy but considering the cable doesn’t even work mostly I am now ready to chat with MG about this “issue”.
  • The active lane assist. Yes I turn it off every time I get in the car. It wants to run me off the road. Sometimes the car senses a shadow or some other perceived invisible non-existent threat and directs me off the road or into oncoming traffic. It certainly doesn’t like road works with unmarked lanes (no lines) and the concrete barriers they put up. Very sudden and determined lane “assistance”. While I don’t mind turning it off each time, I believe it’s far too sensitive and apparently it is dialled back in the recent software update. Not sure about how recent my update is, but I’ll check with MG.
  • Don't trust Remote Key via phone, I sometimes can’t connect my phone to the car via MG server, so I always have the physical key with me.
  • Tyre pressure warnings go off on cold mornings, annoying when MG Lady tells me I should check tyre pressure ant a service centre, and the warning lights stay on for hours.
  • Radio connectivity is also hit and miss. I’d love to get in the car, have the car automatically start playing the last Digital Radio channel I had on when I was in the car. No. It dials into some random band of FM radio. That’s IF the car decides to turn the radio on at all. If I press the Music button on infotainment system, most times it says no Bluetooth device found or similar message. It doesn’t even show there’s a radio channel available. This is despite a little note on the top left of the infotainment screen showing it is connected to Nova or other digital channel.
Then if it shows connected to a channel, the dash screen in front of the driver should show this channel. And the Short Cut star button (you program this when setting the car up) should mean I can switch over to Music app and press the toggle button to “unpause” the radio, but nothing. I press press press and it just doesn’t do anything.
Good bits:
  • One Pedal Drive is fun, scares the crap out of my partner when I say “look I’m not using brakes”. However the MG needs a car in front of you otherwise she doesn’t know to stop at red lights…
  • Installed a Tesla charger at home, best value, fast charge.
  • Charging, read the owners manual for recommended charge %, I do the 80% charge every day, and once per month dial it up to 100% which is the “Long Range” charge but according to the user manual must be done to maintain the battery health. Other than that 80% daily charge is what is recommended.
So my points are:
2023 MG4 Essence 64 is my dream car. I love it and would recommend it every day of the week. I babble on to everyone about how good my car is.
My tech issues are now going to MG because I feel like I’ve lived with these problems long enough, tried to troubleshoot all recommended options on multiple forums (I’m tired of being told “blow into the USB plug”).

Side note, purchased through Positive Salary Packaging, Ryan. Car is from MG Wangara, Carlos was the sales man. 5 stars all round. Tell them Chantal sent you so I get $100 voucher haha.
Only negative is the MG4 EV is so new the staff generally didn’t know how to help me connect my car to the phone, we had issues and I was picking up my car for a long time at the dealership as my phone couldn’t read the micro QR code the infotainment system was displaying. Took forever. Not their fault just we were all confused about what to do.
Ask questions, happy to provide additional feedback.

Would love to hear how this goes. I bought an Amazon version (my post below) and I’ve had connectivity issues, but no different connectivity issues than connecting via cable direct to phone.

Apple Car Play is hit and miss. Mostly miss.
Once I used a short 50cm genuine Apple cable, made sure the phone port was clean and did not plug in until the centre screen had completed then it's worked well for me. But mine is a iPhone 11 with the lightning cable, not the USB-C.

Purchased a Dongle- “https://amzn.asia/d/8Xm6moz” from Amazon
Link not working. Up to now most of the bluetooth wireless adapters have not worked well with the MG4. I'm trialling the one I mention a few posts up as it has an option where it delays start up until after the MG4's infotainment system fires up.

The active lane assist.
Same issues.

Don't trust Remote Key via phone
I wouldn't either, always carry a physical key.

However the MG needs a car in front of you otherwise she doesn’t know to stop at red lights
OPD comes to a full stop for me no issues. But I don't use it much, more of a city/urban driving thing. I use it when coming down the local mountain.
