Turtle Wax 53409 is the way to go. Dead easy to apply and comfortably lasts 6 months even with regular washing.
I use it on all my cars/bikes. No affiliation, just a fan.
Ooof the stuff aint cheap. $60 from repco for a half litre spray bottle. Is one bottle enough for 1 application?

Edit: Amazon got it for $33, that's much more bearable.

You can find it on special fairly regularly at the regular bricks and mortar stores like supercheap, repco, etc too.
It goes a long way - you only use a couple of sprays per panel. A bottle will last 10+ whole-car applications.
The most important thing is getting the car prefectly clean before you apply it (true of any polish/coating really) so that you don't polish dirt or other contaminants into the paint.

Believe it or not, one of the most dangerous things about living in QLD is not the snakes. It’s the fact that you don’t need an MOT/Road worthy unless you plan to sell the car.
Here in WA you don't even need it then. But you do need it when changing license plates from a state that does require yearly checks.

Look what I bumped into today at Bunnings. Not quite Vulcano Orange but close enough. I wanted to park next to it for the time warp photo but alas not too be. It has a Mazda gearbox apparently, purchased a Market Place by a local coastguard.?

Definitely looks better with the chrome bumpers don’t like the big rubber bumpers that had to be fitted for California regs.
Nice orange

will be picking up an mg4 excite 51 on the sunny coast soon. Any specifics I should check for on pickup ? So far I'm going to check for:

  • battery under-tray bulge
  • boot misalignment
  • latest infotainment software (>R05)
  • int/ext visual general etc.

I was aware of the under-tray bulge issue, told the dealer I'd like it fixed before I take it. I was assured the car would be looked over and any issues found would be resolved before I took it. The posts on this forum make it seem like MG does not do anything about it though?

My concern is
  • water getting in there
  • continued sag leading to accident : lowering the ground clearance and it hitting / catching on something
  • drag / range decrease

great car sans this issue I think.

Depends on which dealer you're getting it from. When I picked up the car early this year, I told the dealer about the issue and they added a hold down plate on the front facing side. I'm not sure if all dealers would do this.

If it's second hand, make sure the old phone bonding has been deleted.

That looks a lot safer. Looks like the bulletin in MG4 Undertray Gap - MG Fix inbound?

That's an official "fix" in Aus for the bulging undertray. (It still hasn't yet come to the UK).
You would think if it's happening consistently they would buckle up everyones bulge. Surprised there's not a recall or something. Prevention better than cure, and all that.

I got the undertray bar installed in January. You'd think there would be a factory modified undertray by now as the problem has been known for well over a year & they still don't even have the fix in the UK. It is just a heavy duty plastic bar and 3 bolts with washers which took less than 10 minutes to install.

Hi I have a 51 and just done over 10k km with absolutely no problems.
Regarding the under tray I re tighten the bolts when I got the car home and yes they were loose since then I have rechecked with no issues.

Typical ? the day you get your nice new Evnex charger installed. It’s as cloudy as!
Still, I’m used to disappointment…. I was a Hammers fan during the Roeder years
That’s ok I follow Everton wife is Hammers born in the south.
I can still survive on my granny charger but have thought about upgrading my charger at home. Ps sunny in Albion Park.

Strictly speaking I should have been a Millwall fan. But my mum used to tell such a fantastic story about my birth, that I felt obliged to be a Hammer. That and Dad used to work away a lot and during the 66 World Cup he came home with a huge poster of Bobby Moore. ‘Who’s that Dad”? “That’s Bobby Moore son, captain of England and West Ham”.

And the rest is …..

9 months and all but 10,000km. Charging source stats:

View attachment 27713
Code:
Charge Source Energy Share $/100 km
 DC Fast Charger 23.5% $12.31
 Destination 4.5% $ -
 Grid 27.5% $ 3.10
 Solar 44.5% $ 1.64
--------------------------------------
 TOTAL 100.0% $ 4.48

and people are still buying petrol cars ...

So far my cost on fast chargers has been $87.74. Most was on a trip to Noosa & back of around 1100km. The rest was on 2 trips to the Gold Coast & back. I paid my quarterly power bill last Friday & it came to $41.42. My previous bill was $217.46 when I only had 1.5 kW of Solar & so I was charging the car at off peak. I didn't have any free weekend power at that stage. I added another 6.5kW of Solar in March at a cost of $3,390.00.

I don't have any software to calculate my costs and have no ability to select solar only so when I am at home I just use the EVSE App to select the consumption of Amps from 1 to 32 depending on the day & the iSmart app to set charging time frames. Red Energy provides 4 hours of free power in the weekend & I utilise that as much as possible. I have charged off peak a couple of times when we had a week of rain.

I have just clicked over 13,500km. $87.74 on fast chargers & lets say 75% of the first power bill is for charging the car, $163.10 & half the existing bill $20.70 gives a total cost so far of $271.54 or $2.01/100km not counting my solar capital investment because i can't be bothered working it out. Beat that petrol heads.
