You don't drive through Sydney these days unless you choose to, all freeway style roads now, just the bit from the end of the Newcastle freeway to the Hume highway near Liverpool, isn't free, it's a toll road. The road condition is great .... until you hit the Vic border .... it is in poor condition these days.

Yes I know did it on the way back in Jan 2024, $30 lighter due to toll roads in Sydney.

Don’t ya just love place names ?
Lots of cool names right across the nation. Have travelled the roads out there many times, often for bicycle racing. One race from Cootamundra looped through Stockinbingal and Wallendbeen. The Dubbo to Nyngan race had intermediate sprints at Nevertire and Trangie.

What's more amazing is the incredible night sky. The Anglo Australia Telescope (with 3.9 m optimal mirror) is just outside of Coonabarabran in the Warrumbungles at Siding Spring. Not that it needs clear night skies but there's also the famous radio telescope at Parkes with its iconic 64 metre dish.

Used to also be a cycle race from Coona to Gunnedah, and the next day from Gunnedah to Tamworth via Quirindi. Sadly these and many other country races are no more, the sport has been killed by inept national administration.

I've joined team orange last Friday
Congrats you bought a great car in great colour. Welcome to Team Orange ?

Always used to drive Peugeots
We also went from Peugeots to electric. The French design and build great cars. Shame they don’t have an electric Ute in the pipeline ?

trip to look at a new electric bike
Can you share details of the bike, I’m in the early stages of looking for an electric bike. Our choice is less here in Aus but I’d be interested to see what others are buying ?

It’s ok I found it ?

Yeah I would've liked a Peugeot EV, but here in Australia nothing is on offer (except some vans) and the closed thing they had here in Perth was a Hybrid 3008 for "EV-Volvo money"... not really my idea of competitive. Maybe ten years from now they'll get it together on this side of the globe and I can switch back. Also, I still have an ICE RCZ sitting outside so I guess I'm not completely ex-peugeot ?

I ordered it. One attraction is that the company's main showroom is only 180 miles away so after sales service can be obtained. However I have no idea if they export to Australia or if they did how much it would cost. But as an alternative you could try the Fiido bike I very nearly bought, which comes from China in a box and is probably available in Australia.

Well I'm back again and take delivery of my silver Excite 51 today. After getting some good advice on this forum and taking an hour long freeway test drive I signed up at the special price.
Have found Melville MG really good to deal with so far. Will do a bit of city driving to start with to get used to the car and charging and then a trip from Perth to Busselton. Hopefully 215 kms on one full charge but will certainly have a Plan B. Look forward to being an active member.

Just to pass on my experiences, I bought an Essence 64 (White) on the Gold Coast and took delivery on 9th October. It is a July 2023 Manufacture but happy to take it for the price - under A$40000.
A week before we purchased, we were looking at a significantly higher price, when the factory bonuses came through. We were deciding between the BYD Dolphin Premium and the MG4 but the price drop made it a no brainer.
It came with 2 problems;
1. It had the expected sagging undertray, but not sagging very much. I was happy to leave it until the first complimentary service to get it attended to.
2. It also had no data traffic through the Cellular network. Symptoms were that the iSmart app would not get any updates, the weather and traffic on the satnav didn't work. I was able to bind the car to the app, but not do anything in the app. Weather and traffic did work when I connected the car to my wifi in the garage. The Cellular icon seemed to say it was on 3G (not 4G) all the time.
I could not get the Data Traffic button to go on at all, in the swipe down screen.

I booked it in to get it looked at - a wait of around a week to get in. They have resolved the data traffic problem, saying it was not configured correctly from the factory. I would question why this was not picked up pre-delivery, but not much point asking the service receptionist - (she said she had never heard of the sagging undertray problem!)

They also said they were ordering the undertray fix (the bracket and bolts) which were in stock in Brisbane and would take a few days to arrive. No quibbles about whether it was required or not.

So overall, happy that they have sorted the two problems relatively easily.
I am still not seeing weather and traffic updates at times, seems intermittent but reading all the other posts, I am willing to give it a little while and see if it is still a problem when it goes back in for the bracket. Most importantly the iSmart app seems to be working properly now, so I can see charge, etc, unlock and lock doors and get status updates.

Very happy with the car overall, just a pleasure to drive!

Good stuff. How long after ordering did it take you to get it? Tomorrow, it will be 3 weeks since I put a deposit down at John Hughes in Vic. Park. Still don't have a firm date.

We signed the paperwork on a Tuesday and got a call a week later that the car was in. This was Wangara MG, but to be fair the sales rep had said it all was reliant on what cars the truck would bring in from the storage facility. So I guess we got a bit lucky.

Yeah, it's luck of the draw on colours, sometimes. I stopped by Wangara after trading hours last week and saw 8 orange Excites, including 4 lined up end to end and ready to go.

I'm waiting on a blue, and apparently John Hughes had a lot of whites in stock.

They had a few lined up when we collected ours too!
