MG4 in the family

That is good because you will be able to share your experiences.
Going by the tone of the issue 'experiences' owners have faced thus far, unfortunately that might not necessarily be a good thing.

No. It is a good thing. All information is useful. I have learnt loads by reading these posts. And as a result, when I get my MG4, I will be significantly better informed.
Am I worried that I have chosen the wrong car. Not in the slightest.
The MG4 may not be perfect. But judging by the reviews, it is head and shoulders better than the opposition.

We both love the cars. Best EV I've driven, perhaps best car I've driven. They're both SE SR versions. We ordered them the same time and he got his in just 4 weeks! Mine took 8. Lol

It's really not better though is it.

It has the potential to be a great car, mostly because of it being great bang for your buck. It's certainly not head and shoulders better than the opposition.
If that was the case it wouldn't have been beaten in a What car group test by the lowest spec Cupra Born.

Like I say it has the potential to be great, if they can sort out the issues, but let's be honest here it's biggest selling point is value for money. I grant you that this is a massive selling point. But that does not make it better than the opposition in terms of quality, range, spec, etc.

I hope for everyone's sake all the major issues are sorted soon and people get a chance to enjoy their cars

How’s the Megane If you don’t mind me asking?

I was talking about being able to share their experiences in the family. Which has to be a good thing.

Still getting used to it, got a couple of foibles, and there is a lot going on on the steering column. (Indicator/light stalk, wiper stalk, drive select and audio controls)
Positives are the build quality, it's incredibly quiet, very little road noise. efficiency seems good and Google infotainment is really good as is having paddles for regen and a lot of old school physical buttons.

Mate I 100% agree about sharing their experiences and I sincerely hope they have trouble free motoring and enjoy their cars.

I was merely replying to the bit in your post where you claimed

" it is head and shoulders better than the opposition"

My father and I on collection of our new MG4s! :D
I’m expecting the blue SE any time soon (dealer speaker for ‘ not sure exactly where it is but it’s coming)
I saw an MG5 Black parked a couple of roads away from and if it’s there and not visiting- I will pluck up the courage to ask how it is.
BTW they both look pretty cool together- enjoy your drives.

Fair enough. I forgot that I said that.

Was definitely considering the Megane EV but just couldn't justify the cost. One day I'll have a go in one lol when I first enquired about it in November the dealers just told me it'd be available to look at sometime in 2023 as they'd not even seen one yet.

Sat in one yesterday, although didn’t drive it. Quality is a real step up from the MG, and the Google infotainment looks really smart. Obviously also a real step up in price too. The Techno spec looks to be similar-ish to a Trophy, but at a 25% price hike.

I was due to pay £32k plus for my trophy, I ended up getting a £1000 dealer discount from Renault (phoned 8 dealers before I got that, but is possible) and Renault gave me just over £1000 more for my trade in, so ended up £5k more.
I sorted out my own deal in terms of paying for it but if you were going for finance Renault finance is 1.7% Apr less than MG
Rough figures, depending on deposit could make £20-£30 a month cheaper so another £1000 saved, over 4 years, now £4k of a difference so about 12.5% more., Still a jump but I think it's worth that.

As in mostly anything the gen2 is usually worth waiting for if you can.
MG want market penetration and they’re getting that by the aggressive price point.
If they have to deal with a few issues due to quality then I think that’s all part of the plan.
