MG4 light switch

I wonder if it is possible to adjust the headlights beyond the headlight leveller range? My Trophy replaces an e-golf with LED headlights and the difference is stark (The golf was far better). Are the Trophy dipped lights LED and if not can LED lights be fitted? Full beam is good. I’m in Scotland and at this time of year much of my driving is at night on rural roads. I understand the road lit distance on dipped should be about 50m. I’ve not attempted measurement but can’t believe I’m getting 50m!
Adjusted mine earlier as the lights were far to low on the road and its made a massive difference.
Did a couple of turns on the top adjuster of each light against the garage door to see the beam move by a couple of inches and its lots better.

Sounds like another item to add to the check list. Headlight adjustment

Well all I’m in the lakes on holiday at the moment and when it goes dark here it goes very very dark indeed and I cannot believe how good the headlights are on the wife’s 4 SR are, and the auto dip/main beam is fantastic never seen any car with lights of this quality my lads here as well with his Tesla Model X and his wife’s parents as well in a Citroen C4 but the MG4 SR lights are better than both of them, the only thing that is not the best I have seen is the reversing lights in these conditions of total yes total blackness at times they could be better perhaps a bit small to be of any use.

Agree re. reversing lights - I'm sometimes wondering if mine actually work. ? (They do - they're just not very noticeable whilst reversing).

Hi no problem with lighting, but how can l stop the main lights coming on every time I enter the trophy 4 day or night, auto lights would be good when dark enough

Hi not much you can do with that I brought this up in the last podcast with Miles Roberts, and he said the reason is the sun at this time of year is very low in the sky true so the light sensor is not seeing it in affect.
I have just gotten use now to switching them off on the switch when I get in the car, in the settings there is a toggle to stop the lights coming on when you unlock the car I think it’s called welcome home, but once you sit on the seat on they come even in good daylight.
The reason I brought it up with Miles was in connection with the range of the vehicle being rather poor in this colder weather, and I knew I would be told it had nothing to do with the traction battery as the lights run from the 12 volt battery but where does the 12volt get recharged from, the traction battery under the floor, so does that have any effect on the cars range ? When the lights are on all the time according to form no it doesn’t because they are LEDs well yes you would think so, I’m not so sure, today I have driven 195 miles and managed 3.3 mpkh at 60-65 mph made sure the lights where off and stayed off temp 6/7 degrees all the way couple of weeks back could get much above 2.0 mpkh temp about the same but never turned the lights off they where on all the time makes me wonder. I must say I am not a great lover of having no start/ stop button or no rear wiper backward step for me.

I'm glad it's not just us! Both my wife and I have accidently turned off the headlights when going to dip them. Really dangerous bit of design although now we're used to it we haven't had the problem again.

As for the headlights ours were way too low before even with the switch wheel set to high however when it went back to the dealer to have the software sorted they adjusted them and now they're very good.
