MG4 New fault: Drivers door unlock button.

Sounds like the actuator (the plunger behind the button) is sometimes sticking in and not returning to the out position after unlocking.

Yes, it is another new minor fault. Annoying but we will inevitably get some early failure items.

My passenger door has the issue. Requires a whole new handle which is on order. Needs to be painted also when received. Not as quick a fix as I hoped. ??‍

That's a big pain, I had hoped it would be just the internals that need fixing.

See if they will give you the broken one back and maybe open it up and see what the issue is? I wonder if there's a DIY repair option?

Will do. I‘m also having the rear discs replaced, and the tyres, drivers foot rest. Plus the modified breather is leaking. This is farcical now.

It's one thing getting all these faults, albeit minor they are certainly all adding up, the bigger impact is all the inconvenience on time and the potential loss of the use of your car

Hey Crawford. My passenger door button has also stopped working. I’m still waiting for the footrest. I have had all season tyres installed. What happened to your rear discs? I’m booked in for the software update tomorrow.

Very odd, the driver side button is working fine today.

update, the driver side locking button still has issue.

the issue is more random now, it seems it has its own mind to decide whether to work or not.

Observing same behaviour with my driver door button. Started in the cold weather, but now doesn't work 90% of the time. Sometimes it randomly decides to work.
My car going in for the recall next week, so will report it to the dealer.

Just waiting for parts at the moment. Going to get rear discs, foot rest, door handle all done at the same time. Good luck with the updates ?

Hi I've been in holiday, but intend to see a dealer soon as the faults still there.

Further to having the vehicle for just under three weeks a fault has now developed where I can neither lock or unlock the car with the button on the outside door handle. The key works fine so it's obviously not the battery. Is anyone aware of something I may have dine to disable this function? I have tried contacting a dealer, however they advise they'd need a car fir a whole day to do diagnostics. Hoping someone can advise, many thanks.

Parking brake was binding, took it in to have checked and they said the rear discs were corroded and needed replacing Thread

My tyres were flat spotted causing vibration. Had wheels balanced three separate times but still not solving the issue. Changed tyres and problem solved.

OK, my passenger door button is now intermittent. unlocks ok but does not lock regularly. Sometime it works and other time it does not. So this is now a thing by the sounds of this thread. Keep an eye on it people.

So far the remedy has been a replacement door handle with a long wait first for shipping and painting (they arrive unpainted).

However, highly likely something breaks mechanically inside the handle that could be repaired, but until someone gets the old handle back and inspects it, hard to know what the fault is.

I wonder if the handle is common to any other MG models? They usually are.

I rarely use my door buttons - I tend to use the key fob - but the last time I tested (a couple of weeks ago) they worked OK.

I don't think the MG5 has the door buttons, perhaps the facelifted version does?
