MG4, not a good car.

How is it antisocial? They don’t work evenings.
I think you've replied to the wrong post. @Caramaddy said "The job is very antisocial hours to be fair"

But to reply to you about it being antisocial hours. My father was a car salesman for over 25 years and used to have to work until 8pm every other evening, most Saturdays and every third Sunday.

Ahh fair enough, I though they finished at 6.

The girl I was talking about, who had never driven an automatic, had also never seen Android Auto. She handed over my car with R33 applied and said, check it's all working. She was able to tell me how to get the new software to recognise my phone again, but then when I pressed the voice button and said "Tesla Inverness" and the screen responded and the route appeared, she was gobsmacked.

That's insane, where on earth is the training for these people!

The poor girl is obviously turning herself inside out trying to please me, because I was SO mad about what happened in April and subsequently. The trouble is, she's wasting her time. It wasn't her who didn't apply R33 back in April, and then give me a string of lies about why not, or rudely dismiss my concerns about the undertray, etc etc. And the guy who did all that is not about to come out and eat humble pie.

The car has to go in again in November because the charging port lights problem needs a part. That's fine, it's not a rush thing, not their fault either. They can fix the issue with the left star button not holding its programming at the same time. But after that, I'm off.

The saying about peanuts and monkeys comes to mind.

There seems to be a lot of dealers who think reception is an easy job that can be done by anyone. All they have to do is answer the phone and fill out a form on the computer. They forget that they are the face of the company that the public deal with and who expect the person on reception to know about their car or at least understand what the owner is saying.

The service reception at the garage I used many years ago had retired mechanics as receptionists and nine times out of ten would tell you what the problem was before you said anything.

One reason they move on is that they get set a sales target with a good bonus for meeting it. It's easy to start with as they sell cars to their friends and acquaintances. The dealership keeps increasing the sales target based on previous sales but then the sales person runs out of people they can make an easy sale to so the bonuses stop. At which point they move to a new dealer and start again.
I Swapped a number of times , mainly because I moved into more "premium brands". I only sold two cars to family members and none to friends. In the olden days ( late 80's early 90's) it often made sense to stay at a dealership because more customers then than now had brand loyalty. With the advent of the pcp you could could count on repeat business, have to less "work" with those customers, and get new business as well . When I was Landrover I only had to tell some of my customers that the new years colours were out and they'd swap out of a car that was often only a year old .
For me , it wasn't the wages that made me leave the business but the hours
