MG4 randomly stops charging

Anything's possible, but the sheer number of phase 1 LRs that have had the problem - the ones with the 3-phase AC charging I think - suggests there's something very specific about these cars. Not a single SR affected yet.

I do hope that the replacement 3 phase CCUs that are being fitted are more reliable than the original ones...

I wonder if this is only a UK issue or if it is happening in other markets - anyone know?

It happens in the Netherlands too. I'm happy with the 7 year guarantee. And hope that I don't need to get the CCU replaced every year. :-)

I wonder if the CCU software update prevents this problem happening if it is applied before the CCU starts to be defective?
It is possible, although it clearly points to component failure of some sort and they will no doubt have had lots of different revisions of the CCU, parts like this get upgraded regularly in the supply chain.

I've had an MG4 SE long range for a few months now (was a dealer demonstrator).

Everything has been fine but I'm now getting an issue where the car stops charging randomly on it's own.

This happens when I’m charging overnight on a schedule - usually after a couple of hours. But it also happens if I do a manual charge - sometimes after an hour, sometimes after just a couple of minutes. Happens at all levels of charge.

There’s no schedule or charging limit set in the car.

The BG SyncEV charger is being controlled via the Monta app - and the log says “SuspendedEV” which suggests it’s the car pausing the charge. I say pausing, but it never restarts itself when it stops like this.

It makes no difference if I've set the charge to stop at 80% or not, and it always stops at different levels of charge.

Anyone else had an issue like this?
The MG iSmart app (Australia) software has the same problem of stopping the scheduled transfer at any time. Just changing the start and end times does not even reflect on the screen. Another forum suggested setting it in the car via "Energy Management" and that will fix it.

Our MG4 SE LR has recently started switching off battery charging by itself - usually after a few minutes. We only use a granny charger at home. It has always been difficult to get charging started useing the phone app. Last night it refused to charge on schedule for the first time. Any advice on what to tell the dealer please?

OK ... if you look at the charge port on the car, can you see metal pins in the L2 and L3 slots? If yes then you may have the dreaded CCU Failure issue that early Long Range cars with 3-phase CCUs have suffered.
