MG4 Restricted speed - weird

Yes I can do that .
I'll try the restore first and see if that helps
So I restored to factory settings.
Granny charged to about 70% overnight and the car is fine now .
However we've had a big thaw and the temp was around 11 degrees when I left home .
Did 4.3 m/kwh.
Maybe the low temps and the fact my battery was below 15% put the car into some sort of safe mode even though nothing showed up on the screens.
Thoughts please.

It's quite possible that restoring it to factory settings let the software load properly and in the correct sequence. I know I have to restart my phone occasionally to cure the odd glitch

Do you think it possible it was powered up at the dealers whilst the software was updated with heater on and door open using up a chunk of charge?
Possibly, Its doing much better now, i was able to get close to 150 miles between charges over the weekend and it was still very cold.

I was called by Mg on Friday and told to turn off intelligent battery heating as this was eating in to my battery life for virtually no gain.

Hopefully i will see more improvements now the weather has got a bit warmer but im no longer panicking or worried that my car is a lemon,

Are you confident your speed restriction issue has been solved as well?

... I must admit that I did find a strange setting, on the RHD side of the steering wheel controls (alongside tyre pressure & "MPG" - aka Kw/mile? ), are you sure that this wasn't enabled? (Intellegent ?? ?? ) - normally everything defaults to factory settings each day, but am finding out that some sectors of the controls do appear to have a memory??

To activate the intelligent speed stuff, you have to have cruise or speed limiting activated in the main menu (intelligent is a sub-feature of one of those, I can’t remember which).
I’ve not got any of those on at all.

I think those of us with the LFP pack under our bums are just going to have to cut it some slack when temps are around zero or lower, it really seems reluctant to release its energy when the mercury falls.
It's just the nature of the cell chemistry, well worth it for the promised longevity IMO.
I've went from 2.2 miles kWh to 3.8 today with just an 8 degrees temp increase, crazy.

There are threads about range, this isn’t one.
Im not prepared to ‘cut the battery some slack’ in restricting my speed in the cold, if that is in fact what it’s doing.
Unacceptable.

... exactly... its all a bit strange if you delve into the (rememerable?) settings a little further!

I’m not sure I’m getting your point.
I can’t have accidentally switched intelligent on, because it needs something else to be on.
Besides, I’m sure activating intelligent makes a warning sign come up on the small screen.
Top left, up beside the lane keeping warning.
Little Speedo that goes grey or green.
So, no, I absolutely did not accidentally trigger anything.

Mine seemed to do something similar last week. I was driving back from working away, about 120 mile round trip, with 100% charge. About 100 miles into the journey and it's showing 53% battery remaining so I'm fairly happy with that considering the -8C temperature even though I had cabin temperature set fairly low (19C). Then the last 20 miles seemed to chew through the battery at 1% per mile. I got home with the battery at 32% and the last bit of driving on 30MPH roads seemed to have a very reduced acceleration.

This is a Trophy

If you had an old Nissan LEAF that would be a symptom of the BMS switching from "coulomb counting" to assess the remaining charge to using the voltage of the lowest cell. That should occur on the LEAF at 20% charge or if higher indicate one or more defective cells.
Obviously the MG is different but I'd suggest something odd is going on in the BMS. Hopefully just a software fix is required. Out of interest, had you used full power just before this happened?

I'd been driving in busy motorway traffic with long stretches of roadworks. So 50-70MPH for most of the journey. I didn't floor it at any point, except probably when it lost power. But that was only about a mile from my house

Mine's been fine since I did the factory restore . Great acceleration, top speed ok . Battery good . M/kw back up to where I would expect.
So poss either a combination of outside temp, low battery percentage, battery protection or another unexplained niggle this intriguing car has!

When you say factory restore - is this from the infotainment screen? I assumed that would only deal with radio, displays etc and not engine/motor management Systems.
