I'm not sure if the legislation that mandates all new charge points to be open for all (with contactless payment) is in force yet.

However there's no requirement for a Tesla owner to require contactless payment as the car and charger talk to each other and sort it all out - the driver makes no payment at the machine, rather it's charged to their Tesla account automatically. (They don't even need to open the app). So the V4 having contactless payment suggests that they'll be open to all.

Yes, I presume that will happen eventually. I don't think it's here yet though.

If the Tebay superchargers do take credit cards then the queue-of-Teslas story could well be superseded by a queue-of-assorted-EVs story. South of Tebay southbound, the motorway service stations are a desert of non-upgraded 50 Kw Gridserves.

Tebay South has V3 chargers, not V4.
They look completely different - see the pics I posted earlier in the thread.
