MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

We are absolutely going to do that. Unfortunately, they've lost my trust. You'd have thought having just got a few thousand out of me they'd be more attentive. My next nearest is Brighton 25 or so miles away. What a faff.
Ah yeah just spotted your location.

My local is round the corner but I had the same trust issues so now drive an hour away and get an amazing service from that dealer.

Just got an email from the principle engineer that he found the technical notice on their systems (on the day of my visit 3rd march) and has instructed the service team to order the parts. So things are looking up. Next update when it gets done (hopefully!)

Edit: All booked in!!

That's it, done and dusted with no hassle. Many thanks to the forum - couldn't/wouldn't have done it without y'all 😉👍❤️.

I laugh to myself every time I see this thing that they call a fix. It just seems ridiculous to me that instead of making a tray that fits properly they bolt on this monstrosity to "fix" a problem that should never have occurred in the first place had the tray been designed properly. Quite unbelievable except there it is.🤔

You are right it's the little things (attention to details) that undermine a good car

Agree, it shouldn't have happened in the first place, no question about that.
But it did, and they've provided a fix.
And it's hardly a Monstrosity, you can't see it anyway.
Not sticking up for MG, coz they have proved themselves to be arseholes, on several occasions.
But slight over reaction about the undertray. 🙂👍

What's the problem with the fix? It's been applied, it's not visible in day to day use of the car and if it came from the factory that way, no one even be mentioning it.
My problem with it is this is a car factory, and I expect a car factory to fix a poor design (which this tray is), by re designing it properly. This is just a piece of mechano which anyone could knock up in an hour or so in their shed. I honestly thought that when they did the refresh (phase 2) that would be the ideal time to redesign it and make it fit properly. The fact that it's underneath, fair enough it can't be seen , but it still looks like something that's been made in a shed not a car factory. That's it that's what I think.

And that's fair enough.

Personally don't think it looks to bad at all. It's neat enough.
Totally agree, it shouldn't have needed to have been fixed in the first place. But it did.
And should've definitely been fixed in the series Two. But it wasn't.
But as a solution to the problem, it's fine.
That's what I think.
All about opinions. 🙂👍

I agree would, be nice to see it fixed properly at the factory but personally I am happy with the fix and will look to get it done on my next service.

As said, it's the sort of fix I'd do in my shed.
I do that sort of thing for something broken.
It works and will last, if it's visible, a temporary fix until it can be done properly. Out of site I wouldn't bother.
But not a good fix for a design fault, it's an indicator of a poor attitude towards vehicle support post sale.
Have the new cars had a redesign yet?

As far as I know, there is no re design. That's my issue , it looks like they are happy to fit this home made bodge . Maybe if they do a proper face lift they will get round to it.

I honestly, really don't see the problem with the fix, at all. Why is it not a good fix?
And i just don't see it as a Bodge. It's a solution to a problem, simple's. Yeh, we know it shouldn't have needed it in the first place. There's worse problems on the MG4. Than something you can't even bloody see. 🙂👍

The fix is fine, for a temporary fix.
It shouldn't be a permanent solution.

But I can't talk, some of my temporary fixes have lasted decades

Why? It's certainly good enough, to be permanent.
Hopefully the new MG4 will be totally, trouble free. 🤣😂

If this 'fix' had come as standard from the factory on new cars, no one would even mention let alone talk about the bracket. No doubt there will be someone tbough that will say that they wouldn't have bought the car if it came with this from new lol.

It’s probably the only fix that doesn’t take weeks to be applied as well. I can imagine it takes longer to replace the whole tray than to bolt on this bracket. And MG dealers (especially in the UK) seem to take their sweet time on everything
Weeks? it was going on 18-24 months ( from start of production ) before the first Aussies got their "fix".
